*** Resident Evil 2 Remake ***

I had the original PC version working on Windows 7 some years ago. Managed to get maximum aa and af working on it, it looked cool :D

These days I just emulate it, as I cannot be asked with the setup which can be a bit involved as it is so old. Not played it since I heard a remake is happening to try and forget as much as possible to make the experience more fresh.

It would indeed be cool if they packaged the original with the game. Should be super easy for them to do really. If I was the developer I would do it as something you unlocked when you completed the game :)

Price will come down a bit more before release
I am thinking we will be able to grab it for between £26-30 before release. But even if it did not come down a penny, I would be more than happy to pay the current price. Just happy they made it. Now I hope it gets loads of day 1 sales so we see Resident Evil 3 Remake :D

I think if you're pre-ordering with the intent to help the game do well, it would probably be better not buying from a grey key seller. GMG have it for £36.89 and the devs probably get a lot more of that money https://www.greenmangaming.com/games/resident-evil-2-pc/.
Are they still classed that these days?

Got a good point though, I wanted to support Deus Ex: MD and pre-ordered it from GMG years ago when they had a 20% off code. I will probably do the same again.

Its release is months away no need to pre order yet, black friday, and xmas sale will be the time to get it, probably a halloween special as well
The game itself likely won’t go on sale, but we may get lucky and have a discount code or cash back which can be applied :)

Can Not Wait!!! Hyper Hyper
Same here mate. Stoked!

Janueay 25th can't come quick enough for me, as im sure many others feel the same, also have it pre ordered, there is also a recent claire redfield extended gameplay on youtube but the audio is in japanese, we may get more details by the weekend as their is some tokyo gameshow going on

I won't be watching anymore gameplay going forward if I can help it. There is enough different that I do not wish to spoil it.

Same here, I've only ever played 5 & the Revelations, I've got all the HD remakes they've made over the last 4 or 5 years but I've not got around to playing them, I played a little of RE7 but it seemed silly which wrecked the experience. This remake of 2 looks awesome. If it sells well they might redo 4, I played a bit of 4 as well but along with the originals they've not aged well.
Please go replay the original remake. I replay that every 2-3 years. Never get bored of it :D

What do you mean by RE7 being silly and wrecking your experience by the way? Intrigued :)

You're right It would make sense to play that one before the remake.

Being chased around by a guy who shakes off a clip full of head shots without even mutating got stale pretty quick,
To be honest I probably haven't given it a fair try as I went into it expecting it to be a let down,

Wasn't it also not ultra-wide friendly?, Damn, I forgot about that, I hope RE2 isn't the same.

Just to be clear when I said original remake, I meant the first resident evil that had a remake.

This one: https://store.steampowered.com/app/304240/Resident_Evil__biohazard_HD_REMASTER/

No need to go play the original game :p

Regarding the character that soaks up all the bullets. He was a bit frustrating on my first play through also. But once you understand how to defeat him (go watch YouTube if needed) he is not hard at all. Definitely worth revisiting. Just play on easy difficulty so it is less frustrating and you will likely enjoy it more. It is not as good as the Resident Evil 1-3 & CV imo due to forgettable characters, but it is so much better than Resident Evil 6 and worth playing at least once.

Really hope they remake Resident Evil 3 and then Code Veronica after this. Then they can go make a remake or the original remake. To be honest I would be a lot more excited in that then a Resident Evil 8 which will likely have a bland character like Ethan. Resident Evil 8 needs to maybe use Jill or Rebecca. If not then put a lot more effort in creating a new character.

I just hope the remake retains the atmosphere of the original.

Remember this?

Agreed! It is one of the things I loved about Resident Evil 0-3 & CV. Was not the same after that imo, not just with sound but in pretty much every way. That is why I am so excited about this game.

For those of us that wanted Clair and Leon to look more like the game we remember, they have added in the classic(ish) costumes for free! I love that they listen to fans. I did actually suggest they could do this earlier in the thread, so i'm very happy they have done it.

Pre-ordered from Voidu. I generally don't preorder, but from what i have seen this game will be worth it and I don't want to risk the price shooting up after release for ages and having to pay more. Just hope Voidu is a legit site as i have never heard of them before, but a few people mentioned them in the gaming deals thread.

I have pre ordered with them also. Probably the cheapest price right now at £30.60 using the BLUEWINTER voucher code. Quidco do 5% cashback also. They also had a £3.50 bonus cashback on a purchases recently, so I used that. Need to have look and see if that tracked.

Used Voidu to pre-order Soulcalibur 6 recently, had no issues. Also used them for another game before that. They seem to be the new CDKeys, as that website is going downhill.

Happy to hear that we get the classic costumes for free. Only 11 weeks left until release now :)

Ahh, I think it was your post that alerted me to them. I went for the deluxe edition as the price ended up at £35 with the 5% quidco, which seems to be the going rate for the normal version everywhere else.

I used the quidco £3.50 offer on CDkeys the day before to buy The Evil Within 2. I think you get the bonus £3.50 once the cashback is confirmed, so it could be a fair long wait to get it.
For the most part I am not a fan of skins, so skipped the deluxe version. Had they done something like I suggested here before where you get the classic Resident Evil 2 but with updated graphics, I would have purchased the deluxe version for sure.

I hope this has 3440x1440 support. :p
Did RE7 eventually get UW support? As I recall a lot of people being frustrated it was not working even a month after release, while I had already completed at 4K no problems :p

Not long left now. Starting to get excited. I wonder if the PC will get the 30 minute demo?

Not officially, CAPCOM said UW would break it (or something), but there was a hack released by someone, so probs have to be the same again, as its supposedly on the same engine as 7.

EDIT: Just booted it up, which ive not done for eons now.

Booted up in 4k, where it was fine, fullscreen, but when i switched it to native 3440x1440, it black barred the sides :p

Its looks fine in 4k, just a stuttery mess with it only being 60hz, as im used to 144/100hz now, could never go back to that :D

Another weird thing, because my monitor has a HDR mode (not a proper one), it booted the game up in HDR, and switched to it, which was odd, as Win 7 don't do it. :p
Windows 7??

Ive just remembered, when i tried this in 4k, where it was perfectly in fullscreen, with no black bars, i had my Radeon settings set to Supersampling, for the AA method, with 4x AA set, as im playing Dead Space at the minute using those settings, so i turned them off and fired this back up, setting it to 4 again, and no more stuttery mess, runs fine now, even if it is only 60hz, so i should be able to play this one in 4k fine too. :p
Lol. So 60hz is not a stutter mess after all then? :p

Makes me laugh when people say that. Sure it may not be as fluid as 144hz or whatever, but to call it a stuttery mess is silly and is just being a noob/pushing an agenda imo. It is perfectly fine and buttery smooth for non twitch games.

You never know, they may have ultrawide support this time around, but I would not hold my breath.

Probably just a stuttery mess, as i had it maxed out, with 4x Super on as well, the framerate must have been pretty low :D

Even if this one doesn't have UW support, if i can run it in 4k, fullscreen, no black bars like 7, it'll be fine :p

Not long to go now, only about a couple of weeks
You should fire up a fps counter to see if fps is the issue. As if you run it at 60fps it will be buttery smooth ;)

There are rumours that they have already started working on Resident Evil 3 Remake. I hope the rumours are true and we can get that in the next 18-24 months. I am guessing it would be built on the same engine with similar assets etc so hopefully it would come out in 2 years or less :)

Can't wait for this, but £40 on PS4 for a remake? I suppose it really has been made from the ground up.
I may use Shopto as others have suggested!

I will probably have nightmares like I did when I was 10 years old.
Under £30 on PC :)

But I suppose you could play and sell it on and would only cost you a tenner depending on how quick you are.

I like having my Resident Evil collection on steam, so happy to buy day one and support them and add to my collection. Really wish they did a Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3 originals on PC in a collection. Can’t imagine it would be too much work, just make a new installer that works on modern systems and package all 3 in one like recently they did with Shenmue 1 and 2. Could charge £20 for it and I am sure if would sell.

Don’t think RE: Code Veronica was ever made on the PC so it might be too much to ask for the original of that on the PC to be included. I have all the originals on a emulator anyway, but would prefer to have them on steam.

Just over 3 weeks left now until release day! :D
