Resident Evil 4

You notice how much better this version looks when looking at videos on youtube of the ps3 and older versions. There are still quite a lot of blurry textures, but overall it looks ok.

Getting used to the controls now, but hate using the 360 pad.

Usually I would use left trigger to aim the gun, and there's no way to do that in the 3 control schemes offered.

Control type 3 is left trigger to aim and right trigger to fire.

Just got to the island and can't believe how easy the game is. All my guns are almost completely tuned up. Mainly using the TMP with stock and Red9, a couple of shots to their legs and then knife them when on the ground, or shot to the face/kick/knife.

All them first aid sprays I have just found and no used.

Anyone completed it yet or started pro mode? Might give pro a go after this to get all cheevs.

The boss encounters are what usually drain your ammo back down to "survival horror" levels tbh. Theres a section on the island in a large room with tonnes of those monk enemies that I got stuck on due to not having enough rounds. Ended up having to use grenades very creatively lol.

I've just got to the island on Professional mode and finding it pretty easy so far. I've fully upgraded the bolt action rifle and done the exclusive upgrade to give it 30 damage. I sold the broken butterfly as I'll just use the BAR instead as rifle rounds are pretty common it seems :D.

Got the red9 fully tuned, but can't decide whether to do the exclusive, which I believe brings the power to 4.5. I mainly use the red9 to shoot them in the face and then finish with the knife, so having a bit more power might not be that beneficial.

Got the striker well on it's way to being fully tuned and I will get the exclusive for that as it'll give me 200 shotgun rounds, which will come in very handy on the island .

Anyone else still playing this? What weapons did you use? I dont think I have ever used the mine thrower, but always see to see people using that in professional mode.

EDIT: That mod above looks good. For a 2005 game it doesnt look too bad at all already, so can't wait to see what mods do to the game. Will give me another reason to play through pro mode again.

I love the game but the control method... I just cannot get used to it.

Not to sound like a heathen but any "traditional" WASD/Mouse aim mod available?

Wow can't believe it was 2014 when i last played this. The mods coming along nicely, looks like they are getting towards the end now. I might have to give it another playthough soon...

Think I best wait for my first play through while above mod gets finished.
I was thinking the same thing back in 2014 :p. Its just two guys working on it and they both have full time jobs, so its slow going. If they're working on the island then hopefully that means they are getting close. I'm thinking of just playing it soon even if its not finished as they have done a lot of it, so it should still look good.

Well looks like we actually have a release date for the HD mod, Friday the 13th July!

Not a final release and they will be continuing work, but for the likes of me who never finished the game and fancy a stab it's a good a starting point as any. More info on their site http://www.re4hd.com/

Was thinking of this earlier and this pops up :)

Those two guys have done a great job.

Not sure if I should wait another year or so for the full thing and enjoy it in it's full glory. I do not find Resi 4 to be as replayable as the previous games, so I may just wait. It is the first game to change the Resident Evil formula and made things go downhill for me.
