Here was my prediction from a while back for this game:

1- Resident Evil Remake
2- Resident Evil 2
3- Resident Evil: Code Veronica
4- Resident Evil
5- Resident Evil 3
6- Resident Evil 2 Remake
7- Resident Evil 0
8- Resident Evil 3 Remake
9- Resident Evil Village
10-Resident Evil 4
11- Resident Evil 7
12- Resident Evil 5
13- Resident Evil: Revelations
14- Resident Evil: Revelations 2
15- Resident Evil 6

So far that seems about right, but we will see. I am only a couple of hours in.

Where did you manage to pick it up for £25? Thought I did well for around £33 as I recall pre-ordering for.

.

My steam store region is Argentina - cost 3000 pesos (actually just £23)

Seeing some frame drops when being attacked by a certain someone about 3hrs into the game.

That's tall vampire lady dealt with! Shame her daughters all had the same fight scenario, that could have been mixed up abit

Really enjoying this, well worth the money.

I still haven't played any yet, and it's looking like I have plans tonight now so it'll be tomorrow when I can play.

All of these comments about it not being a RE game - they should just give up and change the name already, stop everyone moaning :D

As far as combat goes it is definitely Resident Evil how many headshots does it need.
Since when has commenting that it is not an RE game considered moaning?

Seems you are a little ahead of me, not dealt with her yet, but I can’t be far off :)

That said, maybe you should stick comments like that in a spoiler tag.

I think we have our wires crossed. I was kind of agreeing with you. These games that really move away from the core experience are basically different games - they should just call them something different to save all the confusion. The Ethan games could be a series in their own right.

RE7 still felt like RE to me, only in first person and with a slightly different atmosphere. This however looks far removed from that and from what I've been hearing it gets as silly as 4 at times.

Been waiting for SkillUp's opinion and he pretty much confirmed what I've been fearing. He seems to like similar games as me so I kinda trust his reviews. And he also liked 7.

I guess I'll be sniping gargoyles and fighting off hordes of cringey werewolves when I grab it at a discount:D For now though, I'm waiting.

Wouldnt say its a spoiler we all know who she is and her daughters they have been in known about long before game came out.

Anyway you'll get to her quickly I bet.

Quick tip to all, make sure you smash some vases aswell as the usual boxes, they sometimes have items in.

Pretty much the same thing that some people have said about the last 3 Assassin Creeds

Is this much better than the demo then as that seemed to have mixed reviews?

RE7 was my first RE game and I loved it. Just picked up RE2 and RE3 so will work through them then pick this up...next year.

Techradar review:

OUR VERDICT
Resident Evil Village takes the series to new heights, balancing the action of Resident Evil 4 with the deeper narrative approach of Resident Evil 7. This, combined with a brilliant use of audio on PS5 and an array of memorable characters, makes it the best modern Resi entry. That said, anticlimactic boss fights and less of a focus on scares - plus a poorly paced ending - mean that while it starts strong, it struggles somewhat towards the end.

FOR
  • Well-paced story (mostly)
  • Brilliant use of audio
  • Inventory management improved
  • Brilliant array of memorable characters
AGAINST
  • Boss fights can feel anticlimactic
  • Less focus on scares
  • Story spoon-fed at the end

It does not bother me, but there may have been some who avoided the videos but enjoys reading what people have to say here ;)

As you say not much of a spoiler but I have seen people complain for less :p

I agree, does not feel like a old school resi game. Kind of like RE4 and 7 combined is the feeling I am getting so far. I am enjoying it more than RE7 which is good, but yeah, it does not compares to the originals unfortunately.

Totally agree, it's more like a mix of 4 and 7, which isn't bad, but it's not the Resident Evil game I enjoy.

I'm also having trouble in cutscenes, for some reason the sound is out of sync so I may wait for a fix before playing on as it kills the immersion.
