Resistance is Futile - AMD RX 9070 Borg Armada - OcUK Kings of Stock (1000's in stock)

So can anybody explain to me why they jack the price up past msrp when the first few hundred are sold? They’ve got 1000’s in stock.

Probably something like a rebate from amd to sell x amount at a certain price point. That's the way it was with vega iirc.

Its cost to the retailer. AMD are actually discounting the price so retailers can meet MSRP but AMD are only limiting this to a few x hundred units any after that and the price has to go up. I think a LOT of people forget retailers are in a business to make profit and it COSTS them to receive goods, shipping costs etc etc. So if the cards are costing them MSRP + £100 to be delivered then with profit etc on top of that this explains the price. Shipping for instance has gone crazy in the last 10 years+ and the price we pay includes the shipping cost to the retailer. Gibbo already mentioned one of the ASROCK SKU cards the landed price is £600 so they are not going to sell them at £580 and make a loss. So tomorrow dont be surprised if when the first batch sell out they price goes up. Yet we will still see people moaning about scalping prices.

As I read today the "M" in MSRP now means Minimum not Maximum.

PLUS do not forget Gibbo's advise. AVOID using paypal or amazon pay because the transaction confirmation is SLOWER than using a card.

Then it's a bs MSRP isn't it. There's no such thing as MSRP + £100.

Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price.

Because this whole industry is broken. It’s fair game to mug as many people as possible. It seems standard practice for PC parts.

its what you have to expect when there is very little competition. You cant go elsewhere so you either pay or go without. The third option is to vote in mass with your wallets and not pay it at all but it will never happen.

Aren't some of the nicer 9070XT's £800 though? Retailers seem to charge what they like.
If that ends up being the general case then I'll just buy another B580 and live with it as I can get that very close to the original MSRP where I live. Games like Black wukong don't interest me in any way shape or form so its not like I need top tier performance atm anyway.

Only a couple of Asus cards, which comes as no surprise, and the Limited Edition Red Devil with extra swag. The standard Red Devil (non-limited) is the same card but without the extras like metal keycaps, priced at £720. All the other cards are under £700, except for a Gigabyte model that's pushing the limit.

I just got a ASRock Challenger B580 for second PC, it is a really good card.

Surely no taking advantage of the situation is taking place ? It's all because everything just gone up in price

They order stock and pay up front before price is finalised I believe.
So poor negotiating and or foresight into pricing.
So the second batch will be sold at MSRP then because pricing is known and they can factor in profit and still got MSRP.

Maybe Nvidia/AMD/AIB partners need to set the realworld RRPs closer to the actual street prices they need to sell for. Instead they want retailers to take the flack.

HardOCP talked about how Nvidia was starting to move to dynamic pricing:

When the manufacturer is selling them to you already over MSRP or damn close to it and you want to sell it for MSRP then that's how you end up with no shops bothering to stock a product.

Genuinely impressed that you've taken the time to hold the burger.
As a result, after much consideration, consider me a customer tomorrow (if theory — if I'm quick enough!).

Not to get people's hopes up but as Asrock don't have like an entry level card as such, they can only offer this MSRP on this SKU for a maximum of 10 units, sorry to be bearer of bad news but they will be near impossible to get one, once those 10 sell out the price will go up to £649.99

Considering the low MSRP volumes can these cards not be pulled and offered to forum members via some form of lottery ?
Just seems a shame that with such a thriving community we feel left out and being put out in the cold to fend for ourselves against the bots :/

EDIT : Don't let the bots win ... Vote Subliminal Aura
