Retro console and games thread

Just got myself a SNES & a couple of games. Installed the old school capture card ready for bringing the PS2 & N64 down from the loft. Could be interesting!

one console i still dont have...a SNES, had one years ago and stupidly got rid of it :(

We have all been there.........The only consoles I ever got rid of was my N64 and Neogeo Pocket. But since I started collecting retro consoles 10 years ago I got them back again for pennies........Different story now with Ebay etc.

I've decided to stop selling my consoles now and pick them up when they drop in price.

I'm gutted when I think about how cheap I got a gamecube, Saturn and A500 back in the day. Think I sold them for less than £30 each with loads of games :(

Alas I Currently have:

PS2 (fat)
360 Slim & Kinect
SNES
Original boxed (MINT) Gameboy
PSP (Release unit)
GameGear
N64

My son is 5 and he got a DS Lite for Crimbo. He's too young for the 360 so looking to introduce him to Mario on the SNES.

I've got no left audio channel on the PS2 so I checked the cable ends with a meter, it looks like there's a short as both the centre and outer on the RCA jack have continuity, would that stop the sound?

Yeah, I assume the wire is disconnected at both ends, but there should be no conductance at all (open circuit). Usually when this happens there's a visible kink or some other damage somewhere along the lead.

Would love to have an Amiga. Remember playing on my brothers 500 all the time when I was younger. I have an Acorn A5000 so it's not all bad news I suppose. Would like to trade it for an Amiga eventually though.

I'm over the moon with it keeping the desktop dynamite pack one with the hard drive. Has kick start 3.1 chips in to I've just found out after a bit of research. I'm selling the rest to get an accelerator card. I used to dream of owning one of these when I was younger.

That is actually amazing. Wish I had the room, hoping to be moving to a place where I can have games room this year but how quickly the missus decides that is then going to be a nursery is anyone's guess lol. Good find, I grew up on a A500 :)

I had an A1200 in the loft that I bought from a carboot sale about 10 years ago, decided to do it up last year and bought the following - Blizzard 1230 Mk IV Accelerator Board + FPU + 64MB, 3.1 Roms, 4GB CF IDE Hard Drive, Fixed for LCD Scart RGB TV Lead, New Caps and a brand new keyboard. The case is in mint condition with no damage or yellowing but the keyboard had lots of yellowing hence the new one.

I also have other bits for it like ADF adaptor kit and CD32 Joypad etc. Probably spent £300+ but these hold there value better than any other computer including Apples! And have no doubt I'd get back at least what I spent, The Amiga is a sound investment, I have no plans to sell though :)

Also have an Acorn A3010 + Hard Drive, Acorn 3000 + Hard Drive and Atari 1040ste with 4mb ram and HXC Floppy Emulator.

Must get round to posting pics :)

Those blizzard cards are so expensive as well. Luckily enough these came with 2 rgb scarts and look great on my flat screen. Just need to get some more games to.

can totally give props to amiga kit....REALLY good guys. happy to help and answer any question you throw at them and they sell stuff for sensible money :)

Thought I'd share a couple of pics of my lady ;)

The case looks yellow in that photo because of the rubbish lighting in my cubby hole!

my boxed copy of pinball fantasies just arrived....utterly gutted as its AGA version so useless to me
