Either Japanese or Asian :)

I bought a brand new Megadrive 2 Asian model not too long ago. Never been used and still sealed in its box. Fortunately my Euro Mega CD 2 (kept that from all those years ago but not the Megadrive for some reason ...) works fine with it.

Also bought a USA SNES not so long ago which is still boxed and in fairly good condition. Unfortunately the SNES itself has suffered from the classic yellowing but only the lower half, quite bizarre. Will grab some pics later.

I had (and have still got) one of those that my dad bought me many moons ago. He was told at the time that it was an Asian version. Nice thing about it was the fact that it would play any games (USA etc.) without the need for a converter. Unfortunately it seems to have developed a small fault since I (somehow) managed to plug the wrong power adapter in to it. :( Still works but seems to have a power regulation fault as the screen goes all over the place. Strangely though, it is fine when playing Streetfighter 2 as that seems to use a different screen mode! :D

I decided to get all my Mega Drive games out of the loft at the weekend for some proper gaming ;)

My Mega Drive of course, was safely stashed in the house, I'm not putting that in the loft ;)

The same console I've had since 1993.

Check what crazy words a jap megadrive has round the ring, not my pic ofcos, sold mine ages ago, with much regret. was MINT.... Impossible to find something like that again.

AV intelligent terminal? HIGH GRADE multipurpose use?
The 16-BIT logo is also totally different to the western versions, and is vastly nicer i reckon, looks a lot more future than what we got.

I just love the way you could make imports work on a UK Megadrive :D

No pics as they are at my parents house, but got a Atari Jaguar boxed with a few games, and a Philips G7000 and a well used Atari 1040STE with a second floppy drive...oooh..

Anyone remember a game on the PC engine called PC Kid??

I had a Master System and my mate had a Game Gear graphics look the same on both formats. I'd say the Game Gear had abou the same power as a Master System.

hehe yea Andy i wish i still had my game gear and mega drive 1 and mega cd 1. i wish i never sold them years ago now :/

yeah the game gear had the same looking graphics as the master system

if anyone near Bournemouth, Dorset is after a Sega Saturn look in the Station *cough* shop. There was a as new, fully boxed Sega Saturn for 22.99! Can't recall if it had any games however.

Hmmm

I'm still not sure if I should invest my money in a Snes / Megadrive rather than purchase the old classics on Xbox Live, XBLA is missing Lion King, Alladin :(

I've gone retro, bought a Dreamcast last week.
Now got 28 games, an arcade stick, official fishing rod, 2 VMU's, 2 pads, Scart cable, VGA box and an import disc.

I'm loving it at the minute, although all I've done is have a quick go at Sonic Adventure (it's very fast) and play Skies of Arcadia (27 hours atm). :D

I've had a PS2 and a Gamecube, I'd rate it higher than the PS2 and pretty similar to a Gamecube.

I've been buying the games in mint or near mint condition although I'm buying them to play, not collect, I don't like scratched discs.

I'll stick up some pics when everything gets through the post strikes.

I would choose a retro console over a few classics forced on you by Microsoft/Nintendo any day of the week. Castlevania SOTN however is a different story - £70 is a bit too much for the original PS1 game.

Has anyone used one of these 4 in 1 SCART switch box thingys and plugged all their retro consoles into them? Been thinking about getting one :)

Just thought i'd get this thread running again and put an updated pic of my Hang-On machine from the last page, as i've now got it working :D.

Got hold of a load of parts from a stripped out machine which also gave me a new set of handlebars (the original was missing the brake lever and both brake and throttle cables were broken, all hard to come by stuff normally).

All works great! :D

Going to continue to restore it properly once we've moved house and settled into the new place :).

I had that EXACT same one, don't have it anymore as I gave it to my cousin about 5 years ago. The internal is IDENTICAL to the UK version except the console runs in 60hz so Sonic was noticeably faster, actually, all games runs faster because of it.

One thing i've also noticed, as i brought it over it from Hong Kong, I need to play UK games. At first i bought a "region adaptor", but then later I notice when you turn on the power button, which is a slider on button, it physically shunt a bit of plastic into the side of the cart. So what I did was I opened up the console while take care not to pull them apart as the red on/off light is still attached to it with a little cable. And then got a solder iron and melted out that but of plastic that shunt across by the on/off button.

Hey Presto ! UK games on a Jap console without a region adaptor !

Pn a side note, as anyone got a NES Floppy Disc Drive? My cousin had one in Hong Kong, you can get games on it. There were LOADS of games on it.....I remember playing the original Zelda on it and it was on 2 discs.

After reading quite a lot of this thread, I never knew there was so many inventions so ahead of their time.

The one that truly amazed me was the satelite SNES thing - brilliant!
