Retro console and games thread

A couple new Castlevania pickups for me :D Its really nice to have the Japanese uncensored version of Super Castlevania IV! I just ordered an NTSC PSOne so hopefully can resume some Symphony of the Night action since as I sold my PAL console a while back.

Nice pick ups there! Is SCV boxed? Whats the differences between the Japanese and the Western Versions?

The game is a lose cart with a protector on it. I buy CIB US SNES Games but pick up the odd Japanese loose cart as they are still pretty cheap compared to the boxed US counterparts, its a nice way to get to play the real game on real hardware without dropping a load of cash as SNES game prices are through the roof at the moment.

The Japanese version has quite a few differences, there is more blood, on the title screen and during stage 8 where in the Japanese version there are rivers of red blood instead 'green slime'. There is nudity in the game, lots of naked statues about the castle, and religious crosses are present that were all removed from the US/EU version. Its not game changing but still a fair bit was cut out.

This video highlights the differences :)

Grats on the Castlevania!
Sad to say never really played any Castlevania game. :(

You are missing out there big time, if you have a SNES get Super Castlevania 4 ASAP! :) I haven't played many but have the original GameBoy one from back in the day and played a lot of the NES versions as well. I have never completed the SNES version and so far I'm having a blast going through it. Its very well balanced games and looks stunning via my XRGB Mini.

If you have a PlayStation or Saturn then Symphony of the Night is a must, one of the best all time greats on any system IMO ;)

Nice to see someone else likes the retro Castlevania games :) Here is my collection

All the cartridge games are boxed as I bought them back in the day. Apart from Dracula X and Simons Adventure (picked up for £1 last year) and I must have got lucky with Dracula X as I bought that off ebay years ago for £8 with the convertor.

Symphony of the Night and Castlevania Chronicles on the PS1 Im still looking out for a decent price.

Nice collection you have there, excellent stuff! WOW Dracula X for the SNES, that costs a small fortune these days you are very lucky to have that one in your collection. It has such a thumping soundtrack, awesome game!

Today I ordered a mint condition Final Fight on Mega CD. I kinda like the console but most of the games were crap so I am really looking forward to this 'A rated' title.
I was about to bid on Terminator on Mega CD as it is an awesome game, but it goes for way too much these days.

I must say I have a huge list of games to play. I just have King Of Fighters '95 all boxed just sat there :(.

I played through Kirby's Adventure the other week on my Famicom.

Game was absolutely awesome and played like a dream, great controls!

Really impressive looking game for the NES. I highly recommend picking it up for you collection if you have a NES/Famicom.

Picked this up for £3 in CEX a couple days ago. So happy, as I was talking about it to my friends a few days before that and about how much I loved Wave Race on N64
