Retro console and games thread

cee-S-dee i brought a few years ago 66 mega drives for 66 quid with 100 games :p many were jap mk1 md. think there was only like 2 out of whole lot that didn't work. :D

best ebay win i ever did. was local pick up aswell :p

That's ridiculous!!! I'd say thats a better score than my 99p JVC monitor! Did you keep many of the games?

Its the only system i am serious about collecting games for. The Plastic cases and Japanese art work really draw me to the Mega Drives library. It really is a fantastic system and i can appreciate the SNES for its library but i really do love mega drive games and it certainly has a different feel to it.

Wow that looks stunning, I really want one!!! The condition of that one is amazing, so clean and minty. Growing up all my friends had megadrives but I was always a Nintendo kid. I'd love to own and play the games I used to play on other people consoles. Do you have much problem playing US games on it as when I get one games like GunStar Heroes and Castlevania Bloodlines are a must and the english versions would be nice to have.

I've not actually tried any Genesis games on my MD. I don't think there is too much problem with playing the majority of games on a Japanese MD as it had the big cart slot so will accept any cart. I know some games are region locked.. i.e Japanese/European Street Of Rage 2 will not work on a US Genesis. Its nothing a region switch can't fix mind.

Gunstar Heroes is next on my list along with Tatsujin. I'd love Castlevania Vampire Killer (ie Bloodlines,The New Generation, that game has a different title for each region lol!) but that one commands a nice price in NTSC/J along with Contra Hard Corps. I think there are differences between the Japanese and US version of Contra. The Japanese version has a health bar and unlimited continues unlike the US version.

There are some great translations out there also. There is a great Bare Knuckle 3 Translation done by the Twilight Group. There are considerable differences in story between the Japanese and Western version and a boss was cut (Ash) as he was portrayed as too homosexual for the western audience. The translation allows us westerners to play the original uncut version with English txt. I'm going to look at building myself a Cart and printing out the Box art and cart label.

Post your experiences up if you wouldn't mind DEL 707 when you receive your upscaler. Certainly interested to see if you can notice any lag introduced with it and if it improves your issue with 60hz picture quality.
 
Will do, I saw it reviewed in a few videos and people seemed happy with it.
I've ordered it from the rain forest American site. So probably be end of the month if I'm lucky. :p

i did at one point but sold most of my collection few years ago when prices were very strong.

had about 1000 different console games at one point and about 100 plus consoles :D

still have most consoles and quite a few games just not to that extent.
 
Well I returned to the market and purchased it:



Think I need to make a list of ps1 games and ps2 I am after.
There were quite a few old xbox games at the market, I looked at none then remembered once home the 360 can play certain games.
 
Did the Mega Drive 60hz mod tonight.

And it works fine on my TV.
Finally had the smart idea of trying out my SNES on the TV in the living room, and it seems to work fine at 60hz. So it does seem like the problem is my TV...
