Retro console and games thread

I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on how much my SNES collection is worth. I've got a raspberry pi running most of my old consoles so I don't really need it any more. I have the console (not gone yellow if that makes a difference), 3 controllers, 2 official and one third party. Two of them have sticky buttons but one official one is perfect. Games with it are super Mario kart, super Mario world, super Mario all stars, donkey Kong country, Street fighter 2, star wars and world cup 94.
I was also wondering wether it's worth selling as a job lot or the carts all separately. Thanks.

im currently looking at buying a snes with those games (most of them)
so ill be very interested in buying

Price depends massively on what is or is not boxed, condition of the boxes/manuals etc - far more so than things like sticky buttons (as such things are generally very easy to repair). Take donkey kong country for example. Cart only would probably sell on ebay for ~£20. Boxed with manual in average condition would bring nearly twice that (£35-£40) and a mint copy probably £80+.
The console being non-yellowed does help. Yellowed consoles can be restored but they tend to slowly yellow again fairly soon.

If your entire lot (console and games) is unboxed it'd probably bring somewhere in the region of £110-130 on ebay as you have the games people would most commonly want. If it was all boxed with manuals in good condition, I'd say at least twice that amount.

Just playing my Megadrive on an LCD TV and not happy with the picture quality via the original supplied cable. Does the Scartho cable make much difference?
Which type of cable is it currently? If it is RF or composite then an RGB scart will make a massive difference. Don't forget to turn off any sharpening etc that your TV is applying as that will make a difference too.

Not quite sure it's worth, check ebay for items in the UK on the cusp of ending. In the world of retro games, when selling, always sell individually :) Can get much more individually than sold as a bundle.

Different story when buying tho!

Bundle the console with one working controller and Mario World or All Stars. Plus the football game.

Then sell the carts separately, they fall into the large letter category for posting.

Sell other working controller separately. The ones that are a bit sticky just take them apart and clean them.

First special delivery :D

Packaging was spot on! Will test tomorrow

@ Barmyllama and others

As you know, im currently looking for a snes, and a game called "Super R-Type"

just been looking for the game itself, and im a little baffled, why are some of the printed labels on the carts showing the spacecraft one way, and on some others its facing the other way?

is one of them not genuine?

Thanks for the reply, it's the original RF cable so I'll get one ordered!

All I know about R Type on the SNES is Super R Type is basically an R Type II port and the other R Type game that came out on the SNES is R Type III

Looking at the cartridge labels that appears to be the what you're looking at.

Looking at the numbers on the label I'd guess that one is a UK specific PAL and the other is maybe an Australian PAL or other non UK PAL region.

WOOO for the Monitor ( 1084s ) !! First time I started it up I just had a grey screen, then a green one. And I needed to press a button on the back and all was good! It is so so much more vibrant, so much better than a standard CRT TV screen :D

The seller seems genuine enough. I'm always wary of faulty consoles on eBay because you never know if the seller has bought it with the intention if repairing it themselves and failed.

It could be something as simple as a dirty cartridge slot. If it's any thing more involved more than that I can't see it's worth it especially as it'll sell for £20-25.

That'll go for over £30 delivered.

The AC Adapter and controller are worth £20, I sold two faulty SNES consoles at auction and they went for £35 delivered. So is say your looking at over £10 for a faulty console.

You could also send it back if you weren't happy with it under not as described. It's listed as used not as not working spares or repairs. He also have to pay return shipping.
