Nice.

Got a few parcels waiting for me when I get home. Hopefully the one item will solve the "emulators through RGB SCART to a CRT TV"

Anyone heard of Limited Run games in the US?

They basically produce physical copies of download games. Usually PS Vita and PS4 games. Although not retro, it's ability to own the physical media, that I appeals to me and I suppose other game collectors.

Anyway, they had a release on Friday and I managed to order Shadow Complex for PS4 before they sold out. Rainbow Moon didn't appeal to me so I didn't bother.

Just need a PS4 to play it on now.

I wouldn't buy anything on eBay listed as for parts or not working unless you can afford to take the hit when they invariably arrive dead.

I can never understand the people who buy 10 Xbox 360 base units 'untested'. It's fairly obvious the seller would have bought them himself like that, ripped them apart hoping for a quick fix and probably broke them further in the process.

I got lucky just once and never pushed my luck again. Guy who is an amiga seller on ebay got a md and mcd2 in a bundle with no cables, wanted 40 for it so on the off chance messaged and said due to the risk how about 25....said yes straight away, I guess as he had naff all use for it

Well it arrived and was dusty and dirty but when I stuck the psus in it fired up first time and read a disk perfectly....which was nice :D

Well I'm still haven't found a solution to connecting an an emulator capable machine via RGB to a CRT TV.

One of yesterday's parcels was a modded original Xbox, which is capable of RGB video output and fully loaded with everything you need to play retro. I don't think it helped the supposed RGB cable was a pile of doodoo. But once you actually get into a game it just looks like composite video. I will order a proper RGB cable and see if that helps and once I become more familiar with the game settings I might be able to get a better image, but I still don't think I can match the RGB output from the original consoles that are capable of it.

On the upside, it still functions as a normal Xbox and N64 games looked on a par with the best output you can get from a PAL N64.

I'll report back when I've had more time with it.

I normally use those guys too.

But I'm still not convinced that the emulators will look any better. It's really hard to go back once your used to playing. But like I said, I need to learn what the software is capable of as well.

On the upside you get FM chip sound quality from Master System games, which transforms the games that make use of it. They almost sound like 16bit games, it's quite a weird combination.

Yes, definitely try another cable. My original Xbox hooked up to a CRT via a decent RGB SCART cable looks excellent even in emulators.

Got this in the post just now! Excellent condition too. Part 1 of 3.

There was an enhanced edition but the box was a lot tackier, I was surprised in the condition this is in. I've got "Roadkill" to come as well and the Amiga 1200 itself. Might pickup Brutal Football as those are the only games I remember having aside from Total Carnage and one of the Lotus games.

Had a bit of a result. Saw an auction for a faulty Saturn and a Dreamcast - £23 inc delivery for the pair of them. Saturn was PAL and fault was listed as not reading discs and the DC was a Japanese one listed as not powering on.

I have a spare CD drive for a Saturn MK2 anyway so figured I'd swap that over and I figured the fault with the DC was likely to be that someone had just plugged it into UK mains without a stepdown transformer. And I was right - there's a blown capacitor on the PSU. I put the power board in from a UK console and it worked absolutely fine. Popped one of my many NTSC-J DC games in and it's playing no problem so the GD drive works fine, bonus.

Then I tried the Saturn. To my surprise it booted a couple of games up straight away. No problem loading, drive didn't seem to struggle or anything.

So after swapping the capacitor out to get the original Japanese DC PSU going again, that'll be a working Saturn and a working DC for £23 plus a couple of quid for a new capacitor :D
