Retro console and games thread

Jaymond: Not all games will work with the stock 2mb you get with the A1200. However you can install ClassicWB Lite and this will work with solve this problem.

There is a work around if you don't want to install ClassicWB which you can see in the above youtube vid.

I also have a nice A1200 with Blizzard A1200 MK IV 030 Accelerator with 64mb memory, 4GB Compact Flash and 16" LCD connected via an AmigaKit RGB lead (compatible with interlaced modes).

I replaced all the caps with a kit I bought off Amibay, bought a brand new keyboard from AmigaKit and gave the case a really good clean but it still as a slight yellow tinge to it. I'm always keeping my eye out for a perfect white case at a reasonable price.

I've also bought a key from the guy who made WHDload and have 1000's of games and demo's running off the CF.

Folks interested in the Amiga should visit - English Amiga Board - Amibay - AmigaKit - ClassicWB - WHDload - lemmonamiga.

This is a link to my thread on eab that might help others setting up a CF for use on a real Amiga

got myself another ps1 game from charity shop, called Space Debris, never heard of it but for 50p i will take it lol

I've never heard of it either... Just looked it up on youtube and it doesn't look that bad. At a quick glance it looks like Starfox but with humans not animals.
For 50p I wouldn't complain lol

Did you ever get round to playing Psychic Force?

After collecting a fair few consoles and games I'm mulling over selling many of them (AES, MD, SNES etc) and building a mame/console emulator cab instead - crazy I know! ;)

Although I reached a point when I began to wonder what exactly I was really collecting them for, considering I barely played any of them (if ever, in some cases).
Perhaps some of that's due to not having a dedicated gaming room, so having the hassle to set them up each time; the 'real thing' novelty starts to wear thin, at least for me. :)

Think I'd prefer building an arcade setup for that experience instead and simply emulating it. :D

Tempted not to sell the Jap Saturn and shmups though I must admit. :D

Surely the AES alone requires an entire games room due to the size of the cartridges lol

The thought of selling my collections has gone through my head a lot but I just can't do it as I have far too many good memories associated with the systems in question.

The idea of a decent hyperspin based arcade cabinet does sound like a good idea though and something i'm definitely going to look into in the future.....

Got an original Amiga A1000 brochure/press release in loft as I went to the launch when I worked for a computer shop!

Gave my Atari ST 1040 away sadly.

After getting a SNES and N64 cheap on the forums I bought a few games dirt cheap... Except I bought a lot of them, and a lot of cheap games add up to a big cost

Still, next project is replacing the oscillator in my Dirt Trax FX SNES cart and overclocking the Super FX chip so the game isn't as choppy :D

Which oscillator would this be by anychance?

I just realised the MM requires 1000 posts to use doesn't it? I don't think I'll be doing any retro deals on there any time soon then , lol, which is a shame.

My best mate brought these to my house earlier today. Said I might aswell have it as he knows I collect them and it was in his loft......Nice of him:)

In good nick too, all manuals etc, fully boxed.

I've one here... 1230 @ 50Mhz + 8Mb, 4Gb HD, 2 external floppy drives... Awesome bit of kit!! :D I think they are fairly cheap now unless you start trying to get upgrades in them etc.. Saw an accelerator card recently like I used to own, £440!!
