Retro console and games thread

I've started going into my local charity shops on the hunt for games- do you normally find retro games in mainstream (oxfam, BHF etc) charity shops or are they in more obscure independent shops?

I have found some bits in BHF & Oxfam, my local BHF once had a box of megaddive games and i bought nearly all of them, and my local oxfam had a pile of playstation 1 games including r-types, crash team racing etc all in mint condition, but its very rare u find much in them it will be picked through and put on they ebay stores.

The best charity shops are the small local ones where people drop stuff off into the shop all day.

Seems that my Dad has skipped my spare boxed A1200, 1048S monitor and all my old amiga games and other hardware that I'd stored in the loft there. So bye bye competition pros, zipsticks, mice, external floppy drives, 030 accelerator and about 100 boxed games.

****!

Didn't even ask, just got told that they'd gone to the tip.

I've regretted selling my Phat PSP for ages now. Really don't know why I sold it. I'd been eyeing up PSP Go's for a while now and finally made the purchase this week. Boxed white PSP GO in fantastic condition for £35 delivered.

This is what a handheld should be. The size is absolutely spot on IMHO. 16gig storage built in and a phenomenal library of games. The bonus being it plays PSX games so well also. I'm really really chuffed I picked one of these up and should have done so sooner. This is going to get a lot of play time.

Good to see this thread is still alive.

I have been a busy boy over the last month.

A Gumtree find for £105. Not sure yet if I will sell a few games off to cover some costs (Whole lot on Ebay separate auctions would be £250).
The rear of Metroid is all warped. Will easily fix by buying a crap NTSC near case and swapping it. All other games PAL :).

Also got this for £38. I only wanted DK....but managed to get the whole lot including recorded delivery from Gumtree.
Apologies for the poor photo. The Saturn game is Sonic R (CD Mint) and SNES game Street Fighter 2.
I have no interest in the Game Gear games.

That's just not right! I feel for you :( That was a great setup.

A PSP is retro gaming now? Well.. :D

I've still got my Fat PSP I imported from Japan months before they were available here. I'd say I put thousands of hours into it over many many years. It was running the 1.5 firmware before custom firmwares came out, and then I rocked those for a while. Its been so long since I used it I wouldnt even know where to go for firmwares, or even know how to go about flashing it any more.

1st purchase in awhile.

Was watching random Mega Drive videos on Youtube, then "Story of Thor" turned up. I vaguely remember renting this back in the day and loving it. Now had much chance to play it though, still working my way through Chrono Trigger.

Been trying to win really cheap Cybernators for the Snes, but no luck so far. :p

Where did you get this from?

I'd have thought it would make more sense to get a umd version of the PSP, for the cheap carboot / CEX / Gumtree games. You've gotta pay full whack on the PS Store with the PSP GO although I think it is a great bit of kit both in design and... History?
