Retro console and games thread

Yey! Won a Saturn on eBay yesterday for 43 quid delivered!

Happy enough with that... Some poor games and two worth about 20 each!

Nice wee base to start my Saturn collection!

Fantastic console! is it a Mk1 or Mk2? If Mk2 the 60Hz switch mod is REALLY easy and means faster borderless gfx and running import games looks much nicer :)

Any saturn players on here, recently been selling some of my doubles and want to buy a saturn game as my saturn collection is pretty weak, so looking to spend about £125 on a game or maybe even two, any suggestions on whats best. I have been looking at guardian heroes but i know you can get that on xbox live arcade so looking for something a bit more exclusive....cheers

No idea!

Any way to tell just by looking at a picture, or do I need to wait to see the underside?

I've modded my megadrive already, is this needs it, it will get it :)

Dark Saviour
Burning Rangers
Shining Force 3
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Panzer Dragoon Zwei
Die Hard Arcade
Deep Fear
Saturn Bomberman

All awesome, rare and willing to take your money lol

This has probably been asked already, but as I've just invested in a Gamecube that actually has a Digital AV port on the back is there any way of getting a component cable apart from spending £200+ on ebay?

It doesn't look too bad on composite but a bit less blurry would be nice, and unfortunately I don't really have space to get an old CRT.

The RGB Scart and component cables of much expenditure are the only proper route :(. I owned the Japanese Digital AV scart years back and stupidly sold my cube with 20 games and that for 100 quid to help fund wedding....Me = DUMB!

There are a few official RGB scart cables on the bay for around £50.

TBH a normal scart will be better than composite regardless even if its 5-10 quid :)

Thanks, I didn't think there were any alternatives on the component cables.

I hadn't though about the scart option as assumed they'd be analogue only. It's been so long since I plugged anything other than an HDMI cable into the back of the TV I had to check if it even had a scart socket ;)

If you have composite AV cables for your consoles.....this might help out if you have a HDMI ready TV

Interesting thought I may look for one of these, but worth noting that the device you linked on ebay is the wrong way around - HDMI input to AV output - so it needs to be a device that does the opposite.

Edit - It seems there are lots of them on ebay with varying prices so I've no idea of the quality but for around a tenner it's probably worth a punt...

There's a guy trying to clone the IC which is present in the GC component cable. Its crazy how much the cable is. Is it worth using one with a PAL GC? Can they output 480p?

I had a play with Dolphin recently and GC games down sampled from 4k to 1080p look amazing. Killer 7 looks mental, probably down the the Cel Shaded art style. One of my favourite GC games.
