Retro console and games thread

Never had a Saturn, what sort of games does it have? Kirby, Sonic etc?

Still contemplating a Mega Drive again. Bought one with my ex stepdad for £10 from a guys house years ago.. ;_;

And god knows what happened to my C16 (I think it was) and 3 black bags full of games my mums friend and daughter bought over, had the floppy disk holders and everything.. Good times as a kid!

sigh.

Saturn is sega so a few sonic games on there, I had a collection of the mega drive ones on one disc I believe?

Lots of arcade racers/shooters etch just don't think the system did too well unfortunately! I remember really liking the controllers

The Saturn was king of the 2D fighting games.
Loved mine back in the day. Sold last year with most of the games too.

Retropi is relatively straight forward to set up.

I'll try to dig it out later once I'm home from work but one of the sites selling kits has a build of retropi that has the button config done (assuming you are using the pins to connect the controls directly to the board).

After the gameboy pi0 build I did before christmas, I'm looking forward to making a bartop arcade cab myself.

The only difference in my build is due to the lack of tools, I'll be buying my cabinet pre cut (its expensive, but when you need to buy a jigsaw and router plus wood, then learn how to cut it perfectly, I'd rather pay for it to be lazer cut) and an going to use a PC rather than a pi

Would love to make something like this well done!

I have a raspberry pi 3! Set it up myself with retro pie following a YouTube vid it was very straight forward, from what I can remember! I think I needed an ad card reader to write the program to the card luckily my partners old laptop had one. Then once set up rims are easily added via USB

put another unit in my room, to take the rest of my games

heres what it currently looks like

Impressive.

How easy is RetroPi to set up?

Really simple, a card reader, an img file and a disk image utility. 5 minute job.

Setting it up once it's installed though can take some time, depending on how many controllers/emu's you want to run etc.

Amazing effort. I'm loving it.

Now you know why I didn't need that GPD anymore :)

Recently retrieved my old SNES and N64 from my folks after countless years in the wardrobe. Wasn't sure what to do with them, but I picked up a cheap RCA to HDMI upscaler and tada. Looked so much better than I thought it would (58" screen). Had a few games of Super Mario, Street Fighter 2, Star Fox and Batman Returns. Total Nostalgia trip.

Today I ordered an S-video cable for the N64 and an RGB Scart cable for the SNES. Thinking I should at least try and put a decent video signal into the TV.

I won't keep these indefinitely, but I might as well enjoy them for now.

Search on the jungle store. There are dozens available for not much money. They're probably all the same electronics... mine was a Tendak or something.

I think this unit from B&M as well as affordable makes a great display for my Sega consoles. I haven't a Dreamcast on there as it's white and wuold look odd. I may get a Black Dreamcast when I find one.
