Retro gaming live streams

I have backed the ZX Spectrum next kickstarter

Yeah, it's a cool project. If it wasn't for Vega, bills, etc I might have been more than tempted to back. Wonder if they have a button to try & 'fix' the attribute block 'problem?' Not that I know enough about it to know if it can be fixed :)

and can't wait to get my hands on it.
I think a YouTube video/live stream is in order when you do :)

I had an Acorn Electron back in the day even though i really wanted the speccy 48k
I knew a couple of people who had C64s but they just weren't as fun as the Speccy. The games just felt more playable on my +2 even though they were graphically inferior.

I will be trying to complete Chuckie Egg 2 which i loved on my cousins rubber keyed speccy. go on, i dare you to complete it!
I'll be playing it eventually but I won't be completing it for certain! I think I once made the toy & maybe got all the sugar but that's it! Good luck if you attempt it-I recommend something strong to drink!

Do you stream on twitch? i did just follow you on there.
Nar, just on YouTube. I'm only on Twitch to watch other streams & I don't have the bandwidth to stream to them both at the same time unfortunately.

Id stay away from the alcohol. Once you've done it, then you get told to do it 6 more times,

Good advice… definitely need something stronger! :)

We completed it back when it first came out. The magical ride it was back when I was 10 through the factory was the hook
I was a huge Chuckie Egg fan back then & iirc was 6 when it came out and for me getting to the 'hen house' part in 2 was always the draw. However, for arcade adventures it was just too long and I preferred Dizzy, Magic Knight games.

nice seeing Feud again. Love to see a 3d/vr remake of that.
Ditto. I had a quick look to see if there was a remake or something similar but couldn't find anything. Definitely a lot of potential there.

Weirdly - the best format for this game was the Toshiba MSX
Chuckie Egg 1 was better on the BBC Micro imho & if being brutally honest, without rose tinted glasses, most games were 'technically' better on platforms other than the Spectrum but there was just something aobut the speccy that made it feel 'easy'. Weird but true.

Tbh the Speccy vs C64 debate was probably at its core a class thing were I was… people could just about afford Speccies at £175 but if you had a C64 which cost about £400 it meant you were loaded so evil! :) ! Of course Commodore UK temporarily have the last laugh with the Amiga; great hardware, great price, and a great OS which. It is so sad that their US management seemed to have as much business sense as Sir Clive.

I still play Amiga games too using WinUAE & my transcoded ROM. Unfortunately, my actual A1200 is pretty much on its last legs & suffers from a red screen of death. My favourite game was A-Train, spent hours playing that and was always somewhat annoyed that you couldn't turn off the victory conditions etc.

including a new Dizzy game made by the Oliver brothers and various other games being made and re-made for the speccy next utilising the extra power.
Hopefully it goes back to its Treasure Island/Fantasy World routes. Really gutted their kickstarter, https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/theolivertwins/dizzy-returns/posts/367677 , for a modern version didn't take off but as I only heard about it due to its cancellation I suspect there was a market for it if they had a better campaign.

People have asked me why i am getting one and why not just buy a second hand original. I would say that i just like tinkering with stuff and this is kind of an ultimate tinkering machine.
100% get that. & hell, it's always good to support someone doing something relatively unique like this if you can. I certainly would.

wow is that how much a C64 cost!
i almost feel guilty about my parents getting me one, almost.

That's £1,295.51 in today's money btw! For the speccy it is £566.78 so basically it was half the price which explains why it was such a big hit. Still resulted in half my estate owing money to doorstep loan sharks like! But it was such an amazing machine I could live without clothes, food, or heating for a while! :)
