What on Earth are you on about? What is wrong with you tonight? Normally you make total sense but you seem to be on a crusade to make people think you've gone totally round the bend?

I was thinking the same about you?

It doesn't say in the manual that the board works with an I7 3820 so suggesting it might is fundamentally pointless.

How do you know? Are YOU the OP?

I'm simply suggesting that the person in question checks that nowhere in the manual, on anything in the box, or was told by anyone in the store that the CPU would work. If it transpires that it is printed he has a case, if not, then no harm done.

This is getting ridiculous.

Inside the box was an enormous piece of luminous paper saying THIS BOARD WONT WORK WITH THAT CPU, LOLZ.

There, you can't tell me I'm wrong either because you are not the OP

I've bought enough motherboards to know manuals don't tend to guarantee out of the box compatability with processors not released until after the board was released.

To be honest, I was starting to think the same about your posting tonight

My posting is never sane. How dare you suggest that I ever make sense. ;)

MAYBE he did something crazy like look at the manual online

He might have, but that's not necessarily the manual that came in the box is it?

Anyhow, i'm getting a headache from circle-walking. Can we agree to disagree before the pinching and poking starts?

It's madness though.
What was OP's friend meant to do? Buy an i7 3930k and an i7 3820?

If he did that he could have still been in a mess (unless he actually checked Gigabytes website) as depending on the stepping level for the 3930k he would actually need the same BIOS version as for the 3820!

According to their CPU support list for the board you need F8 for the 3930k C2 stepping same as the 3820 ...
