Rich Russians go pirate hunting in somalian waters

This thread is alarming, obviously 99% of the people here wouldn't do it, but it's alarming that everybody here thinks that it's 'cool', 'fun' and 'awesome' to murder people as a sport.

Pirates are obviously unforgivable in their actions, but they're from a place where this is normal and in some cases the only way to live, you guys are just ridiculous :/

no, your ridiculous.

Don't you think your being a little patronising there? Your not talking about lions and tigers "oh it's natural for them to kill", these are people who decide to kill because they have no other choice.
Ironically, you were being patronising, and now so am I. I've fixed your post, btw.

They do it, not because it's their culture, but because lack of law enforcement lets them get away with it, cornwall would if they could still get away with it too :)

I didn't mean to be, and I don't condone pirates in any way at all, but it's not a civilians job to solve the problem, especially as they're only doing it to indulge their murderous urges. Pirates stealing is one thing, setting up a group to go around murdering people is a whole different kettle of fish.

Killing for profit is better than killing for fun? I guess so, but if I put both groups in a cage I can't really say I'd care if either came out alive.

Any reason for that? Is it because I don't think murder is 'awesome'. The truth in the matter is that you're probably never going to punch anybody, much less find yourself being 'awesome' murdering people. It just annoys me when hugely priviliged internet kids think that they're being men by condoning and encouraging violence, we don't need to be violent, we're so lucky to not be in poverty and thankfully live in a society where violence is almost always pointless, and here is a thread full of internet kids thinking they're cool by egging on a fake story. I just find the attitudes in this thread bizarre and frightening, when did the world think it was OK to resort to violence, why is everybody comfortable with it :/

Neither can I, but why would you pay money to murder, and travel half way around the world to murder.

Don't take my word for it, but I imagine if these pirates were offered the lives of the rich business men, the very last thing they'd do is go to Somalia to start murdering people.

It's something I've been thinking a lot about recently and reading/watching up on, gang culture etc. which obviously translates to pirates. I was always a little bit ignorant and blamed the pirates/crips/bloods for not wanting another life but in some cases these criminals really are a consequence of many failings in the world (their environment) and while obviously it is in part their fault that they're turning to violence, they're helpless in some cases and while this draws no sympathy from me, I've never been put in a situation where it's steal something or don't eat for a week. I don't know what I'd do.

except it's not murder is it. They would only get a chance to kill a pirate if they attacked the Russians with the intent of kidnapping/kill them.

if you where walking through a bad neighbourhood knowing you might get attacked, is it your fault if your attacker gets hurt?

They're going with the intention of killing people, don't try and say they're going for a nice boat trip. They want to kill pirates.

you need to take internet forums and internet "kids" less seriously...

hmm silly idea, only thing that can happen is the pirates take it out on the other people they take hostage. hence why the navies don't assault the pirated ships.
