Rich Russians go pirate hunting in somalian waters

Any reason for that? Is it because I don't think murder is 'awesome'. The truth in the matter is that you're probably never going to punch anybody, much less find yourself being 'awesome' murdering people. It just annoys me when hugely priviliged internet kids think that they're being men by condoning and encouraging violence, we don't need to be violent, we're so lucky to not be in poverty and thankfully live in a society where violence is almost always pointless, and here is a thread full of internet kids thinking they're cool by egging on a fake story. I just find the attitudes in this thread bizarre and frightening, when did the world think it was OK to resort to violence, why is everybody comfortable with it :/

some people like to kill people, surely its best to kill random pirates?

there isnt nothing much you could do, except kill other murderers? but that would break your own codes so..... ignore?

I don't see why the transport ships and oil tankers dont simply hire a few ex-soldiers to journey with them and defend the boat if needed, If all ships did that it would be a hell of a lot cheaper then paying a ransom, and pirates would end up getting shot and killed, forcing them to find a new line of work (those that dont get killed that is).

No, it really wouldn't. Contrary to what the media would have you believe, these attacks are few and far between. To hire a team of mercenaries on the off chance your ship will be hijacked is minimal, let alone probably illegal.

Before anyone pipes up about international waters, that is irrelevant. The shipping companies must fly under a flag, and obey that countries shipping laws. I highly doubt "shoot to kill" is permitted.

This is brilliant!

I hate these Somali pirate ****ers. They hold people hostage and do all kinds of rubbish. That southpark episode was rather cool.

Russians rule.

If this is true it works on so many levels.

The pirates attack people mad enough to put themself in the line of fire albeit protected by ex special forces, spec forces then ensure pirates take a pasting..job done, if this all happens in international waters then I don't really see much of a problem.

If this makes pirates think twice about attacking soft targets then it has to be a good thing.

When is the third one on?

I caught the first two via Anytime :p
There are repeats of the 3rd episode on during the week;).

Only if they're foreign. :p

Ok, glad you've got a valid reason. :p

Wouldn't it just be a case of extended vigilantiism?

I suppose you could possibly describe it as that but an alternative description might be premeditated murder (should these "tours" ever exist) because you'd be going out with the express intention of engaging and killing pirates. I don't think calling it vigilantism makes it much better from a moral point of view anyway - it's not a legal recourse under any circumstances (although occasionally understandable if not condonable) and it being extended means you've removed the possibility of it being an action in self-defence or in the heat of the moment, not least because you've gone searching for trouble so to speak.

Where can you find Pirates?

You can find them splicing the mainbrace, shivering timbers and hoisting the yardarm. If those clues are insufficient you can head towards the East Coast of Africa, say the Somalia sort of area and then they'll find you - it's almost like the A-Team in reverse, if you're in the right area and carrying a valuable cargo they'll find you and be a problem for you.
