Riddick 3

Still going to watch it in the hope theyll do a Chronicles expansion, Ive got a lot of time for Vin Diesel, hes put some real effort, outside of being an actor, in other media

ps3ud0

Damn shame and wasted opportunity by the sounds of it.

Ill see it when i get a chance but not going to rush out

I cant even begin to get my head around how anyone thought CoR wasnt complete ass, let alone all the praise its getting here lol.

Pitch black on the other hand was enjoyable, hopefully this has gone back to that theme rather than cardboard acting with bad outfits of CoR.

I loved both PB and CoR but not looking like this latest film is up to them - looks like waiting to watch it at home for me.

IMO CoR has always screamed out for a sequel and was always the more accessible to the general movie-going public. Face it, if a bigger "name" was the star it would probably have had the full trilogy treatment by now.

bad outfits

it's a fantasy film in space therefore it's allowed. i have to admit, karl urban did look hilarious. he was camper than julian clary in a tent. :p

i liked both the previous films and i'll probably go see this tomorrow despite the less than flattering comments so far.

I had been looking forward to this until reading these comments. The trailers looked really good and having Starbuck in it was a big plus to me.

Just back from seeing this, and really enjoyed it. Being a Riddick fan helps indefinitely, and it generally looks gorgeous -- there's some stunning scenery, and a late-game shot at night with lightning flashing while Riddick fights off monsters that just made me think "wow".

Problems, well, some of the CGI is shockingly bad, but understandable given the budget. Let's not forget that Pitch Black's creatures, at the time, were also sub-par compared to other CGI-driven blockbusters, so "Riddick" is level pegging with that, and exceeding it at times on today's terms.

The most troubling thing, however, is that those complaining about the misogyny are not playing it down. I have absolutely no idea what was going through Twohy's head when he wrote those lines, but Jesus there are better and easier ways to ingratiate Riddick with the female character than him basically promising to **** her straight. Which she appears to buy into right away. WHAT A GUY!

It's totally against the character -- BOTH characters, in fact, considering what is established with Dahl -- almost doing away with everything that made Riddick such a magnificent anti-hero when it came to the final act of "Pitch Black". A shocking turn, has no place being there and really soured the film to be honest.

I liked Pitch Black, thought it offered a nice mix and vin diesel played the part well.

Chronicles was a completely different film, and again I enjoyed it.

I would much rather have seen something in the chronicles universe than what looks like a copy of pitch black.

Will wait for the dvd release.

Riddick is such a two dimensional character and this is just a low budget generic sequel.

Highlight is Starbuck getting her baps out - otherwise just 2 hours of poor quality cgi.

I saw it this weekend just past and thought it was good, certainly on a par with Chronicles but not as good as Pitch Black sadly.

Was I also the only one disappointed that the Necrons were only in a small flashback? I was hoping to see him go toe-to-toe with Vaako and slice him open.

Still, that didn't ruin my enjoyment of the actual film. I particularly liked the "fair trade" mind games. :D

I watched it this weekend too, I thought it was good if unambitious. I love the character so it's always nice to see more of him but I wish the story had been a bit more fleshed out.

I get a feeling they are holding back a lot of the necromonger/real story content for a "big" movie if it ever gets made.

Just watched this weekend as well. Really enjoyed this - as a good, low-level sci-fi flick set in one of the only genuinely newly established and iconic sci-fi movie franchises of the last decade.

Did not know what to expect at all and was pleasantly surprised, in spite of the occasional tendency to "over-Diesel" which may grate with or annoy some people. What there is of substance is a well-thought plot, decent special effects, and some great moments from a reasonably entertaining film.

Would recommend on the basis of the sci-fi premise alone, which is horrendously under-subscribed in today's comic-dominated movie world.

well there is a 4th instalment coming (announced a few days ago) and I hope it will have some more of the necromongers, felt riddick 3 needed more of karl urban in it if that makes sense.

The end of riddick 3 does give a good 'direction' for the fourth one though
