Rift or Vive

Although I have pre-ordered them both, I have no interest in poncing about the room, waving my arms
everywhere.

For me at the moment, its all about the seated VR experience, as I use the Obutto R3volution cockpit, for everything. (I have no other desk)

So after a bit of searching last night, found out that Vive may not even be suitable for me, but HOPEFULLY Rift will be. Just comes down to the fact I have quite a small IPD of ~56.8mm. Due to the type of Lenses used on the Vive, I may not get good vision due to my IPD being smaller than the minimum rated distance. But because of the type of lenses used on the Rift, even though I may be slightly outside the range, it should still be more manageable, and will even include software correction.

Fingers crossed they both work, or at worst, just one. Otherwise I'll be a broken man. With small eyes.

I think I'm a couple of days from cancelling the rift and giving the HTC a shot.

Whilst the content isnt there, the experience is what I'm after...and I presume games will project cars (or another great racing game) will support vive in the future

Vive seems to be the superior product and the way to go, but will wait for reviews before committing. Also those postage prices.. Very off putting.

No big rush, no must have titles for VR yet anyway.

I really like the look of the Vive but the price is putting my off a little. I think I will wait until I can test it for myself to see if it's any good and maybe let it mature a bit and get some more content.

I was going to preorder both but stuck with my rift preorder only. Kinda feel like I'm doing the right thing even if its only my gut telling me so.

My gut told me the opposite. I listened to gaming sites that all said that the Vive was the better product and so I bought the better product!

Wait untill the week after next before you decide, Valve will be announcing more titles for the Vive at GDC which runs from the 14th to the 18th March.

Please let it be Portal 2 and Half Life 3! PLEASE! ;)

Really hope Valve announce some first party content. It's very bizarre that pre-orders have gone up and as things stand they haven't announced a single title on their own platform!

Think it all depends what you want tbh.. Rift is more seated vr and vive for the room scale stuff. I've got a rift due in April and all stuff I want to play will be seated games also will see how the early reviews go.

People say vive is expensive compared to vive but people will still need to buy touch controllers which will probably put it in same price bracket

Decided to ultimately keep my pre-order for both (think I have day one stock them), but will probably just sell the Rift on to be honest... can't wait for next month!

Has anyone been brave and ordered the Omni to go with their VR headset ?

Not brave enough to order one blind unlike the Vive/Occulus headsets but I may still cancel the Occulus and shift the funds that way. For once though I will have to try before buying as I'll have to dedicate my spare room/office to the VR gubbins.

Apart from the current lack of titles I'm very much favouring the Vive now.

I've watched so many videos on this topic and what I've found is vive is the better device but it's like Kentic you need a room to play it in. But I reckon vive might fail the reason is the games.

The vive comes out sooner but with 3 games and the rift has 100 in development. But if we get left for dead or hl on vive then who cares :)

o and I'm lazy and rift is perfect for people who sit on their rear it's going to be touch and go but I would wait a year so you have content and reevaluate which one u want.

Only 3 games? I'm not sure what kind of research you have done if you come to that conclusion with the Vive...

Also the Vive can easily do seated experiences at well.

You don't need a lot of room for the Vive, 2mx1.5m is all you need.

I doubt many games will even utilize this, even on Vive you will be spending most of the time sitting on your rear.

Those are the 3 games it is being released with if you pre-order. There are many more in development, and will be available on the Steam store at launch available to buy.

It would be like saying the Rift only has 2 games, EVE: Valkyrie and Lucky's Tale.

Has there been any news on what other titles are coming to vive near release?
Besides l4d, portal, and hl (which are rumours due to for test)

Elite and dangerous are adding support aren't they?

Thing is with rift keeps getting set back so games might be done before everyone gets their devices ;p let's face it their don't have htc experience
