Rift or Vive

Vive for me is better but I wouldn’t rule out getting an Oculus as well, definitely going to wait a bit first though.

The experience does look great, finally, but I am worried about the size and weight of hardware. The headset seems fine for short sessions but I keep hearing that after an hour or so it gets uncomfortable, too hot etc. That could be a problem for my marathon gaming sessions. I just can’t see anyone playing this comfortably for 8 hours etc. Still very excited about it and dying to show it off to the kids!

Especially in room-scale, if you are moving around a lot... Eww!

There's a company called "vrcover" who do nice cotton covers to go over the face foam (the bit that actually touches your face). I ordered some myself for the Vive, since seems like a must in the long run to keep the HMD ick-free. (The Vive-pre cover they do is also 100% compatible with the Vive CV1 since they're the same mask design)

Did you have to order from the USA?

Not sure where it's actually coming from, but it's only $7 delivery even to the UK, and the owner was on the Vive subreddit saying he's shipped to lots of people in the UK so far.

I went for it because a lot of the VR developers Valve has given Vive-pre's to have said they've bought covers from these guys.

Gone for the Oculus after having had both the DK1&2. I'm not sure it will be the game changer people think it will be just yet, but that said, I enjoyed using my DK2 (more so than the DK1).

I did consider the Vive but bearing in mind the travesty of the Steam controller and the fact the package is knocking £750 with shipping, I've decided to stick with what I know. If Vive comes in and blows away the competition, then I'll get one but for now, I'll stick with the Oculus as they've had plenty of time with their hardware to be well ahead of the game at launch (fingers crossed).

Think i will order a rift tonight not going vive because its much cheaper than a vive, iam not interested in room scale because i dont have the room todo it justice, there are no games on the vive that iam interested in unless they announce hl3 as a vive exclusive. Current delivery time on the rift is july so i have plenty of time to cancel my order if vive turns out tobe better.
