Having all sorts of problems with mine too, tracking playing up, display going black, sound cutting out. To be honest I'm considering returning it and getting a quest instead.
Open the Oculus app on your PC.
Select settings in the left menu.
Select the beta tab.
Next to Public Test Channel, click to enroll.
The Oculus update should automatically download.
Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. The Quest is no substitute!
Have you updated to the latest firmware? It resolved the intermittent audio and display issues for me.
Yeah I've updated to the beta firmware and tried on 2 computers I'm lucky if it works for 10 minutes before cutting out and the tracking is all over the place
Maybe the USB ports aren't providing enough bandwidth? Are you running from onboard USB or a separate PCI card? Looking online I've seen a load of people with the same sort of issues and using a separate usb3.1 pci card solved their issuesThen you have two options, wait for further firmware, or return it for a replacement. Getting a Quest would be a downgrade in every possible way, save for wireless functionality.
Multiple issues with mine , headset will not stay on for any length of time. Have tired all usb ports and removing and reconnecting all cables tried all the updates and so on. Nothing works and to top it off my right controller has duplicated it self 7 times and i cant remove the ghost ones. One will show as active but each time i try to remove one it adds another. Tried to remove the software and reinstall and its just the same so now its totally borked lol
Tried on another pc and got it working however i get random white flashes on the display , think i will just return it and wait and see what the valve index is like.
just for info
the pc it worked on was using a z370 hero motherboard
the pc that failed was amd x470 strix motherboard
Hey all - quick clarification on the white / static issue some of you are reporting. The firmware released as part of today's PTC update is not expected to fix that known issue. The team is still investigating and working to resolve as quickly as possible. If you've run through the troubleshooting steps on this support article (which it seems like many of you have) and you're still experiencing issues, we kindly ask for your continued patience while the team works on further firmware updates. Sorry for the confusion and apologies for the inconvenience.

That's good news for me as I have the same mobo arriving tomorrow so fingers crossed it's all goodI've got my Rift S running on an Asus X470 Prime Pro (very similar board to the Strix) and have had no problems at all. I've had play sessions of several hours without issue.
Yeah I read that to, but it’s not like they are new to this game and I’m not gonna wait and see if a firmware update fixes the problem. Who knows it could break something else. Anyway I have a vive I can use in the mean time. I’m probably best waiting and seeing how the index turns out as I’d only need the headset as I use it for sim racing more than anything.
Problem with waiting for the Index is that you won't be able to buy it. If you reserve it now you might get it at the end of September. If you wait until it is released on June 28th you might not be able to buy one until next year.
I think you should wait and see what the Firmware update brings and then go from there.
