People who suffer from things like this become experts in covering it up, I recently had a good friend who came very close to going the down the same path luckily I picked up on something not being right and she opened up to me about it and got help but she's scarily good at putting on her public persona and apart from me no one else knows just how close she came and that's a terrifying thought.

This is always why I try to treat people in the real world as best I can, all it can take is for you to **** someone off or have a go at them over something small to tip them over the edge. You never know what personal issues people are dealing with on the inside. Not saying this is what happened to Doug but it can be a cause.

I was friends with Doug also, met through motorbike meets organised here.
He had been quieter ever since moving to NZ but still chatted every so often on FB, and to think I used to rib him for riding a kawasaki....

RIP Doug you were a good guy and you will be missed.
