RMA problem. Please please help

Oh, BTW - CCC stopped recognising the card when i put it back into my system today. DPD left my card on the other side of my LOCKED gate as i was not home. They clearly chucked it over (judging by damage to packaging and angle it was at) and it was left there for 9 hours. I thought it would be DOA.

Another option for you is to sell the card ... maybe some computer exchange place ... get the money and buy another card if you are 100% sure it's not you... but most these places that will buy the card and give you cash for it will test it 1st so if they pay you for it.... DRUM ROLL...... even they proved it works fine...

I have been tinking about that. I would really like it though if ocuk will be kind enough to give me a £250 voucher if HIS confirm what i think is the problem. Do you think the amount sounds about right? How much do yiu think a comouter place would give me?

No idea... depends what they rate it's value ... I would say try the members market on here.. but I think most of them probably by now have read your adventures with that card and may stay well clear.

This sounds like my little scenario i had with my 5870 when i first got it last year. First day i got the card, excited to see the performance on my rig and bam i get no display so i try updating bios and drivers etc and clean installs but still no luck. Returned the card personally the next day to OCUK HQ and had them test it over night. Went to pick it up the next day and they told me it was fine and that the only real thing they could do was for me to bring my rig and they would test the whole thing at a charge... i was already charged aswel just for testing it on their systems for £10.. I even tried DSR but because i bought in store it didn't matter so i was left with a possible faulty card and no where really to go. Took it to my local computer store and had them test the whole rig for free and was told it was my motherboard pci-e slot at fault. Bought a new mobo, installed it myself and boom it works. I was happy with OCUK's services as it was really quick but annoyed i had to be charged for every little test.

If i was you, get a trusted local store to test it for you along with your whole system and get them to see what the problem is. I thought it was my power supply at fault because when i used a different power supply it would work so i automatically assumed it was that at fault but it turns out the problem laid deeper within and not so obvious...

EDIT: And just to add, it was the HIS brand aswel haha. I was in contact with them aswel during this long tedious process and they did reply a couple of times after telling me to perform certain tests and diagnostics which i had all done but still no luck. I never got round to ringing them though, purely because i couldn't find their number and was never told to RMA the card back to them as i told them OCUK said my card was fine so they assumed so too.

If it was me, I would try diplomacy first with OC. Sometimes speaking to a manager calmly and explaining the problem is often a positive move. Tell them you had high hopes and are upset that the item does not do what you were led to believe it should have done from the description". Explain the steps you have taken, including their testing and say that you are still not satisfied and Infact you are very unhappy, which you clearly are.

I would think that for a card OC are not going to make too much of an issue over it especially when they have this huge forum.

If that approach does not provide you with satisfactory resolution then you have the option to write to the managing director, explain what has happened and say that the card is a) Not fit for the purpose it was advertised to do, b) Has not lasted a sufficient life span c) was sold with an inherent issue that you were not made aware of at the time of sales.

Sometimes persistence pays off. Be polite, calm but firm and in a lot of cases, being a pain in the butt to a stubborn supplier usually pays off because its cheaper to give you what you want than to keep paying their staff to constantly spend time dealing with you.

Yes, i think i'll ask to speak to a manager. I did make a complaint which should have gone to a manager but they said the same thing the techs said. I haven.t even OC'd the card so therefore have done nothing to void the warranty. TBH, i really don't think anyone really cares about this problem which is truly disappointing seeing as the main reason i buy EVERY single new graphics card from OcUK is their CS.

RMA'ing stuff to OC can be a total nightmare, the support dept appears to assume all its customers are morons who wouldnt think to try the obvious fixes before returning stuff.

How did DPD get a signature from you if they chucked it over the gate. If i am out they can't deliver and post a card saying they will try again the next working day. If they did this to me i would phone overclockers and ask where my graphics card is as i have not received it.

Everyone was telling me to do this before. NFF. Then DPD chuck the card over for someone to steal or a fox to drag around my garden. I will try local computer shops to get a second opinion and then contact OcUK with results.

If getting a 2nd opinion proves the card is faulty, and OC have declined to offer a full refund or exchange (which you are entitled to decide on which you want, not the supplier, plus you can reject a repair), you are also entitled to what is known as consequential losses. That is any costs associated with the card.
Testing fees, postage costs, cost of any additional hardware you purchased with the card that would be for use with the card etc.

Call me Mr Cautious if you wish, but I am not sure I would be suggesting defrauding a company on the company's own discussion forum mate. Even hypothetically, it just feels a bit rude, you know? :)

DPD did something similar to me recently with a parcel.

I heard the door going but couldn't answer at the time, so their driver just left the parcel at the door, without getting a signature from me.
