I find folding ones more of an arse ache to fit as well because all they want to do is fold not stay on the rim :(

I went for a 3 hour ride today (1100m climbing) that quite a lot of elevation where I live.
Anyway, I’m a little concerned about how little I eat when out riding. I had an energy bar at the hour mark (240Cal) and then 3/4 of another at 2 hours (218Cal)

So in total I had estimated 388 Cals whilst riding. Is this recommended with the time spent and the exertion? How Many Calories should I be taking on?

(riding was slower today than normal. :/ )

Pulling a number out of my *** but i would be very surpised if that ride used any less than 1000 Cals.

Then again if you're not bonking then what's the problem?

By the end of it I wanted to finish. I realy wanted to do another 15 miles but had to sack it off.

1,756 C according to my Garmin. How much do you guys eat while out?

Bit of an odd question, but I'm trying to get fit and as I enjoy riding my bike (it's nothing special, had it years) is there an app I can get on my iPhone 4 that I can like have in my pocket that can track how far / fast / much I burn kind of thing?

If anyone is considering the Shimano TR31s...well...I have to say they're the most comfortable new shoes I've ever used. No breaking in period or anything. But most irritatingly they close inwards, which kind of negates the whole point of triathlon shoes; because whilst they're indeed still a single strap closure that you can easily slip your feet into, closing the strap is difficult because you have the bike/crank arm in the way!

Loads of them do that, unfortunately. My Izumi's do which means the end of the velcro was always rubbing against the crank (and judging by the colour, also the chain).

I don't understand how such a simple piece of design of such a fundamental reason for actually buying triathlon shoes could have been passed.

Is it so you don't accidentally unlatch them if you brush past someone or something while pedalling?

I don't see how you could, and the end of the strap rubs against my pedal crank arm, so is in danger of loosening (as the velcro ages) anyway. The only reason I can think of is due to overbalancing, but given the balance needed to jump into pre-clipped shoes anyway, I can't really fathom it.

Dunno then. I sort of pictured they had some kind of ski boot style clip over the top that could pop open, but since it's velcro it does seem to make no sense.

I dont know wheather my question got lost in this thread, but how much do normal people eat whilst riding. Is there a percentage of Cals you need to consume or just as and when you feel like it?

50 miles on the L2B I did two bananas, two Mars bars, a handful of peanut M&Ms and half a bag of jelly babies. I needed salt though; cramped up once or twice.
