The fm066SL is usually very expensive for a Chinese frame, think it was ~$650 without shipping on velobuild mall, certainly too rich for my blood for something which is essentially a copy.

As an alternative I'll suggest the FR-316, it looks similar but maybe not quite as sexy. I use it on for my commuter, its Di2 ready with all internal cabling.

Mine weighed 888g (54)
Fork: 350g (uncut)

It all cost $460 all in with shipping which they marked down so I didn't pay import tax.

Heres my commuter (6.3kg):

It's ok. It's winter over there, MTBing is permitted :p

That's just wrong. Mtbing is more fun on the right tracks. However road biking is much cleaner and much easier to do in a limited time. It's also pretty much possible wherever you are so as I work away from home a lot of the time taking the road bike with me lets me ride a lot more.

Judging by the Sky guys, the tops are cut a bit shorter than a lot of mine but they should still be about 3" below your belly button/tops of your bib shorts.

its not "race cut" version
might get the next size up then, ill pop into Evans on Thursday when im down there and try an XL (hopefully another week wont hurt the exchange to swap it if I need to?)

just a shame the Crux doesn't have mud guard mounts, everyone seems to rave about them though

The Crux (I've got the 2012 version) is a decent bike granted, but imo for a Cyclo-commuter is a poor choice over the Tricross. If you're after something that can dual purpose for both commuting and chasing segments then I suppose trading mudguard mounts for a bit of extra stiffness (over the Tricross) is fine, so get the Crux. Compared to a decent proper road bike though it's poor.

I thought mine was decent until I got my Canyon. Now it just feels like a steel shopper with a basket on the front. I do have 32h wheels on mine though and 32mm wire beaded Marathon Plus on though so I'm not helping it much...

I've got clip on mudguards on my Crux and they do the job so if you really want the Crux then it's not a dealbreaker not to have mounts.

Just looking at the Tour of Poland stage 1 results. Wiggins finished 58th 9.5 mins behind 1st

Think he's just there to get back into things, and Nibali has been soft pedalling too so I wouldn't read a lot into it. He's targeting the Worlds TT so he's a way off top form yet.

I do wonder what he'll do next year though. Unless given a very forgiving parcours then the GTs look beyond him. I know he wants to win Paris-Roubaix but he doesn't strike me as ever being a Classics rider and Sky's record in them is appalling.

I think road biking is more fun on the right roads, it's just much easier to find a fun mtb track than it is to find a fun road.

I'm not sure what makes a fun road though I can pick out bad ones. They all feel fairly similar, though I am spoilt living near the Dales with plenty of reasonably surfaced roads and a choice of either evil or moderate hills.

Any of you lot got Mont Blanc Barracuda roof mounted carriers?. I've also posted this question in the 'Big Bike Thread' as I ride on the road and MTB. :)

My idea of a fun road is a nice long descent on a good surface with some hairpins and some sweeping turns as well.
As i said, not easy to find (especially in this country). Very similar to the types of mtb trails that i like, lots of smooth, flowing berms but the speed of a road bike is a bit more exciting.

The people that you ride with can make it fun as well. A group of people all around the same ability attacking each other up a hill is great fun.

Location: Skipton.

Surely there's some decent roads in Yorkshire!

We seem to do OK round our way, round Bolton way, though there's a lot of places now where the road surface leaves a lot to be desired.

Yup got two of those.

Cool, got a couple of questions if that's ok?.

How do they lock to the roof bars?.

I've got aero roof bars with a 'T-Track' type fastening system on them. How do the Barracudas fit to this?. I've looked on the Mont Blanc website and the downloadable .PDF instruction file shows square shaped/ended bolts which slot into the tracks on the aero bars. Do these come with the Barracudas?. Or do you need to purchase these separately?.

Ta. :)

I see Asprilla fighting the good fight in GD... I'd weigh in if I weren't banned from there for my own good :D

For the record, on the subject of idiotic drivers, on Saturday morning, when turning left here, a car turned into the same road as me from the opposite direction, from where the Vauxhall is in that picture. As I was turning into the sideroad, they were coming round the island past me. Why would you do that?

A bit later on the ride, when going round this bend to the left here, someone overtook me literally on the apex of the bend, as I'm leaning into the turn, giving me the tiniest bit of clearance because there was someone coming the other way at the time. Never mind your "Cycling two abreast is inconsiderate because I can't overtake you" arguments. If people are going to overtake a cyclist on a bend when there is no room because someone is coming the other way, then God help us all. It's like people literally can't bear to be behind a cyclist, as though their penis is shrivelling with every second they have to spend behind them. Actually, that's sexist, women are just as capable of this sort of idiocy as men.
