Why can't I use M520s!?

The Speedplay Zero is so easy in comparison. I look like a right nodder trying to clip in to these crappy things. I might just ditch them for flats... I've never seen the point in clip-less for short, urban commutes!

It had to happen at some point but my new bib shorts!! Turning around a corner at 10mph is still too fast on a wet day. Tarmac 1 : Bum Cheek 0

Was aiming to continue from Monkhill to Castleford for more climbing ride. Cut short after my fall. Left elbow bleeding, left knee grazed and old would reopened for punishment. Oh rain, as much as I love what you're doing to my garden, I hate you when I'm on a bike!

Can always rely on rogan for good taste :) Shame they're also pretty much the most expensive framesets though :p

e: take a look at this steel beuty on the bay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281139616422?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Was searching for ENVE stuff and this popped up. Never heard of Ritte previously but have to say it's a looker.

If i was offered a 50k a year job and was in the market for carbon id probably get a custom paintjob madone or an r5, however steel is real!

Get the ritte! Way nicer than all the cArbon ones ;)

My enve cross forks and CK tapered headset have arrived before my frame geos even been signed off, got a bit ahead of myself

What saddle?

What saddle to replace stock on a Specialized Allez Elite (if it's relevant) please guys? Wife is after a birthday present for <£100 and my current saddle is worn out and vibrates when I'm standing up.

Cheers.

steel is real!

I know that i'v just professed my love for big aero carbon frames just a couple of posts ago and steel is about as far as you can get from those but i do quite like a nice understated, thin-tubed steel frame with some big carbon aero rims on it :D

I'm doing my 2nd Triathlon in September and potentially a coast to coast next year and instead of borrowing a bike like I've done in the past I want to purchase my first road bike.

I've been to the Edinburgh Cycle co-op today and road tested a few bikes, in particular the following

Specialized Secteur 13
Giant Defy 4 13
Cannondale Synapse 2300 Triple 13

Essentially I'm not looking for a racing bike, rather a comfort bike which won't kill me over distances. Triathlon distance is between 20k and 40k and will only do a couple a year, hence would rather something comfier for longer distance which is what I'd like to get into.

All of the bikes felt pretty similar and seem to have the same type of equipment so I'm not sure how to differentiate between them, apart from style/colour (v important what should I be looking out for?

Any help much appreciated! My budget is £500-£600 hence the above 3 are the only ones I've found in my budget.

Not everyone's cup of tea on here, but I'm loving it.

Just need some black bar tape and it's done. I'm thinking perforated vinyl for authenticity.

Of those I would take the Defy. You should try a 'race' bike too though don't be put off by the generally more 'aggressive' position some people find it very comfy and tbh most bikes can be adjusted either way with changing saddle height, fore/aft, adding/removing spacers, stem length/angle etc etc.

For style/colour it's your bike so get the one you like the look of the most. Especially if after test rides you found them all much of a muchness. The bike you like the look of the most will make you wan't to get your leg over and just go for a spin :)

Ergh, is there a more depressing email than: "Uh oh! [INSERT NEMESIS NAME] just stole your KOM!"

First world problems :(

I quite like that, looks like an awesome 'pub' bike. What's the build cost?

Not that I'm anywhere near KOM territory, but round us loads of the segments have been KOM'd by Paul R coveryourcar.co.uk. Google tells me that coveryourcar is a business based not far from us in St. Helens... Strikes me as a wee bit pathetic to be advertising your business on Strava, but hey ho. Also makes me suspicious of his rides, but what can you do.

Anyway.

I've been out and done 28 miles and managed an average of 17.7mph, which I'm pretty damn pleased with. I did the same ride just over 6 weeks ago at 17.3mph, so a bit of improvement is nice :D

It poured down on me for the first 2 miles, but fortunately I'd put my raincoat on. I took it off at a set of lights and was fine from then on, having made a point to head away from where the rain was going, rather than following it!

Funny i was thinking of him when i read uniQ's post!

He took one of my KOM's (i got by 'accident' in the first place) and as you say seems to hoover up a lot of segments around the area including the road up past me where i was 2nd on a few segments (now 3rd!).

Think you just have to accept there are always people faster than you!
