See this I don't understand. I'm on earlies this week so 7-3pm, setting off from home at ~5:55. The ground was wet, lots of early morning dew, and it was cold. I was wrapped up in leggings and my new Softshell, and passed people in wife beaters and shorts..

At the moment I'm fat (78.6kg as opposed to 70.4k 1st Jan) and so I'll be in shorts and a short sleeved jersey until it gets down to 5c.

Well that's a turn up for the books; [DOD]Asprilla weighs the same as me. Unfortunately I'm about 25% fat, so it's not all bad news for you, [DOD]Asprilla ;)

Why do you green his name?
I do it with everybody's name, it's something I've always done, to the point that I don't even think about it any more. Have you not noticed it before?

On the topic of weight, I tried to put on the Sportful Sprint jersey I got for my birthday this morning, and I couldn't even do it up. Time to kick the junkfood habit and get back to exercising properly, methinks!

Aye but I have to wrap up even on my normal commute, setting off at 7am :(.

Join the club. I felt a bit of a wally turning up to a club run on Sunday wearing gilet and arm warmers when everyone else was in short sleeves but it seems everyone has a different definition of what "warm" is. It's definitely chilly up here this morning though.

This morning it was sunny, 13-14C with a very light breeze. Almost perfect cycling conditions I think! It is not too cold, but cool enough that I don't sweat buckets sprinting my commute.

Averaged over 20mph commuting this morning, happy with that.

I thought about putting a base layer on when I was getting ready but decided against it, shorts and jersey was just right today.

See I find 13 degrees on a bike very uncomfortable.

Need to put some weight on >.<.
I find the best way to deal with it is to ride faster ;)

Joking aside, surely it's better to be cold on the bike? I mean, if you find it warm enough to wear a short sleeve jersey at 10C, then you're going to suffer when it's over 25C. At least if you're cold then you can layer up a bit - as you've noted, a soft shell is an excellent solution to the problem. It was a bit breezy this morning, so I went with a hard shell instead.

I have a random question; has anybody gotten an aluminium frame resprayed? I like my CX bike, but the colour is boring.

not really.. im ok with t-shirt at 10-15c and im fine riding at 34c :o

mate is still looking for a bike around 1k budget, wants pannier rack, mudguards etc..

best thing to get ?

Hang on. Sales are already starting and will be in full swing by the end of the month after Eurobike and all the '14 models are released.

Quite a few places already have 20-40% of entry level Giant's though!

id love that lol, but he's all about ultegra/carbon etc.. i think he may be missing the point.

While I've no doubt there are bikes out there that are carbon with mounts for mudguards and panniers, the thing is going to weigh a lot fully laden so saving a kilo or two off the frame is totally pointless. Probably best to work out what he wants his bike for and go from there.
