They will fit any shoe that supports the 3 hole delta pattern.

You need to move away from the idea that there are "road" shoes and "mtb" shoes. Ok there are, but the specific thing you need to look out for are shoes that will fit the cleat system that your pedal choice use.

Some shoes will support both.

Generally for road you would need road supporting shoes, the pedals I suggested in my first post to you are keo cleats, the pedals actually come with the red 9 degrees of float cleats. You can also bolt the cleat at more of an angle as well. They would accommodate you with zero problems.

I had a great ride home last night, straight through the middle of the Chilterns i managed to get a 18.9mph average over 33 miles including 1,558ft of climbing, 24 pb's and two 2nd places on Strava, looking at the data i managed top 10ish% on the climbs, pretty pleased with that considering i hate climbing

I've thought about moving to them, but don't really fancy the expense of a new shoe (imo you'd need the speedplay sole for full advantage).

I didn't realise the Speedplay system had completely free float, I like the idea of that. Anyone here use them?

I use the Speedplay Zeroes on my Rose. My only other experience with clipless pedals are the M520 and the Zeroes are so much better to use.

There are 2 bits you can adjust on each cleat, one alters the float for heel out movement and one alters the float for heel in movement. I played around with it before settling on a float I'm happy with. You can set them up so it feels like you are ice skating on your pedals if you want.:D

Tension for clipping in and out is not adjustable, but it isn't difficult to un-clip. Clipping in initially required some time for me to get the technique down. Maintenance involves keeping the cleats relatively clean, lubing them and the pedals with dry lube and every few months replacing the internal grease.

Erm, I don't think anyone seriously sets them up like that. Maybe if they are in their 70s and have really bad knees?

Personally I have quite close to zero float.

That moment... You're pushing for a Strava segment the end of the road/seg comes into view. You know your on for a PR and possibly a podium so you give it your best Cav face get out the saddle and give it everything.. You then realise you've gone to early and the end of the segment seems to get further away as your legs turn to jelly and you run out of steam. FML

you're going down a hill ready to improve your 6th place on the segment and then bang a chick decides that she wants to slow you down on her fat mtb because she just felt like it! bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbech..

I did that with one of the "hill" climb, didn't realise the segment ended a lot further down the top, so coasted after where I thought it ended. Only to rage when I am home as I could have finished a lot faster time wise.

My worst one is on a home bound segment, aiming to get my first KOM with everything going perfectly till the last 100m, a Van decided that a cyclist bombing down a hill at nearly 30mph is too slow to reach him so he pull out... slooooooooooowly. Bah.

In my opinion downhill sections on Strava are an abomination and should be banned.

Downhill segments don't count. Unless they're at least slightly techincal.

Went for a segment this morning, might of got KOM (currently 4th), noticed the current KOM is via an iphone and looking at the performance data in Strava he has a faster average on the segment than his entire rides max speed and the speed on the segment doesnt go above his overall segment average!
Also plotting is like every 5 seconds plus when the segment is only a flat spring of ~30 seconds.

FFS!

EDIT
Actually plots are after 8 seconds, 16 second, 21 seconds and 29 seconds.....thats it! Also speed is way way below his average, 8-10mph!
