Show them how it's done, One More Solo :D

Also, remember to yell "car back" randomly; people love the added excitement it brings.

I find it funny how the non-commuters I ride with don't notice cars behind them until they're upon them. I'm usually at the front and end up shouting car back half the time due to commuter superpowers.

If you could hack 10 speed to 11 speed that would be pretty special. Would love an electronic groupset at some point.

I cant see that the spacing between sprockets would be an issue anymore. The movement on electronic mechs is controlled by some sort of processor rather than by cable movement in the old system. Theoretically, it's possible.

Problems may come about through the total width of the cassette (11 speed is 1.8mm wider i think?) and what security shimano have in place to stop people fiddling.

Actually, it should also be possible to run pretty much any cassette thats the same width or narrower with an electronic mech. You'd need to know the spacings and program them in and also have the right size of jockey wheels to run the chain smoothly. No more compatibility issues between campag/shimano cassettes? Just program in all of the cassettes you have and tell your bike which one you are using today :D

Why would you need to upgrade electronic mechs to change from 10 to 11 speed?
A change of jockey wheels should be enough, or the whole cage at the very most.

Well, i know why....because shimano want to make money, but is there any technical reason why not?
I expect it wont be long before you can just download an 11speed upgrade :)

That's only if they bring a 10 to 11sp firmware update, after reading a bit more it seems unlikely so that's actually a complete Di2 groupset you need :D

Noticed westbrook have stock of the Di2 only Scott Foil in my size at same price I can get an R3 for but after you factor in 11sp Di2 it becomes a lot more expensive than an R3 with 6800 :(

oh no, i didnt mean an official firmware update from shimano ;)
It would be silly for them to do that, they need to make money by selling new stuff.
I'v never used electronic shifters, so i dont know a lot about them but i cant think of a technical reason why it couldnt be done. Possibly not an 11 speed upgrade if the cassette is too wide for the range of the mech (but it's not that much wider?) but compatibility for campag cassettes and older stuff 9 speed, 8speed,...5speed? should be possible.

I might need to try and get myself a set to see how they work :)

Haha. I must be honest, I do feel pretty bad holding up traffic when you're in a larger group although the guys leading the rides are very good at keeping people in line and keeping traffic moving. Hopefully will be a smaller group tonight so not such an issue.

When you calibrate the Di2, it moves about 1mm or less per click so you could probably get away with changing the cage for a narrow one to take the chain and give it a try

I've used them to buy my specialized camber and they were good, they didn't have it in stock even though it shows as in stock on their site so worth checking.

Also I emailed about a a suspected problem with a bush and never received a response.

Tredz are OK, but they're known for to often show items as in stock but aren't really. I would use them as a last resort if you can't find the same product elsewhere at a similar price.

Yeah, I just had a similar problem with another website (J E James Cycles, Rotheram) where items were listed as in stock, only for me to receive an email from them later saying that they had a stock error :(

Have been on a few rides on the new bike now, and I can hardly face my hybrid for my commute anymore! Here is one I did last night. Biggest difference I have found is that this type of ride on the roadie is so much easier on my legs. I feel like for the amount of effort I put in, I get so much more out of the bike.

Anyway, strava:

Here is a pic I took half way round, by an old WW2 airfield. I love living around here!

I bought my Rollers from them, they even called me up that day I bought it online, good customer service, it was dispatched and received in like 2 days

They are rubbish for problems. I've retuned stuff to them before and it takes ages to get them to refund. More hassle than its worth, but still not as bad as Shiny Bikes.

lol newcastle had 14mph winds the other day when I was out and the wind seemed to change to a headwind no matter what direction I went in..

6ft3 + hybrid + headwind = sucks.

I gained like 5mph from the same cadence just by bending right over and putting my face as close to my handlebars as I could and I was only going 12mph pre face to bars so it was a massive difference
defo getting a road bike next summer

14mph.. pfth.. :)

try 20+ with 30-50 gusts.. now that gets you out of shape ;D
