First near miss of the year commuting today, close pass by an Everest Glazings van. Passing close to the side of me then cutting in front of me, missing by only a foot at the most. Wasn't impressed.

Had loads the last few days. Even nearly got taken out by someone that works here on Thursday!

Mind you with the latest threads on cyclists in Motors I guess its to be expected

Just double checked it, the mechanical frame comes in black/white but the electronic frame is black/white with red  the ultimate cf sl also comes without red.

I have an aeroad. Just looked it out yesterday for the first time since September to get it ready for going to tenerife on Saturday :D can't wait to ride the nice bike again.

I've been thinking about changing my cleats, and/or pedal tension

I am currently using the yellow cleats with the tension fully backed off

I want to make it quicker to unclip as I find it takes too long
so would it be a good idea to change cleats to red or adjust the tension settings?

Quality MTB spd pedals with good shoes is the way to go IMO.

I would never use a road shoe/pedal combo. just too impractical off the bike.

Yes it does. Why can't they just do the SLX without red. Just replace the red stickers with the white or grey ones from another model!! So frustrating :p

Oh I bet you can't wait! Will be a great feeling once you egt out on the open road in the sun.

I'm planning this new bike for my Majorca trip later this year.

I suppose it depends on what type of riding you're doing aswell. Around here where I can't do anything but climb hills, the aero benefits will be less noticeable compared to a weight saving when I'm grinding up a hill at 8mph.

I've got Speedplay Zero stainless pedals (£140) on my Rose and Shimano M520s (£15) on my other two bikes. I don't really notice any benefit from the Speedplays except being a tiny bit lighter (due to lighter wallet!), looking more aesthetically pleasing on the bike and road shoes being better looking than MTB shoes.

I've ridden 2 centuries on the M520s and plenty of 60mi+ rides and never felt uncomfortable or that my power transfer was lacking.

As above, only had SPD's till very recently so done 10,000+ on them inc TT's, commuting, 150+ mile rides etc etc.

My nice bike has SPD-SL's and I used them for the first time in my race the other weekend. Can't say I noticed much benefit from them but I think they need some more setting up.

I've got a set of M520's too, I have ridden them on the road on my usual commute (about 30 miles) and I can honestly say that in comparison to my SPD-SL's they were absolutely awful*.

*They were however, still attached to my Cube Acid hardtail with Schwalbe Smart Sam knobblies on. :D
