Head out with Manchester Wheelers, they meet at the Gateway pub near Parrs Wood cinema. They do an intro ride on the first Sunday of each month and are friendly types - I just don't have time to get out with them as much as I'd like.

Depends on your age I think. I got a pretty hostile response when I went out with them, bunch of elitist big heads, and particularlu disrespectful to a lady who came out too

Really? Depends which group you went out with I suppose. The guys that do the steady rides seem nice enough and the club has a really strong female membership at the moment (think the president is a woman this year as well).

I think if you've had a bad experience you should flag it to the club as it's no doubt something they'd want to hear about and improve on.

Arrr nice. That's what the bike is in your sig. I remember doing some photoshop on your wheels for you a while ago and liked the looks of the bike then. Ill do some investigating.

And today I strictly WON'T be visiting the Motors part of this forum. I love my cars but the morons who use that part of the forum really upset me. Reminds me why I don't use that part of the forum like I used to.

Depressing isn't it? Used to post in there a fair bit myself and always enjoyed seeing your projects.

Amazing how blinkered people are talking about the evils of cyclists on the road and some of the horrible stuff that gets spouted in there, it's worse than GD.

My bike is the Xeon CRS which is the range down from the Xeon X-Lite. So not as good quality carbon and lower gruppos on offer.

Similar to the Canyon Ultimate CF versus the Ultimate CF SLX.

Right, self diagnosis here but I seem to have picked up what seems like a dose of Spring Knee, otherwise known as chondromalacia patellae. Rather bothersome because I was just getting settled into riding to work again despite the bad weather. I've got a few days working from home so I can rest it up, but it looks like I'll have to drop the gearing down a bit on the fixies and get my geared bike running. I can almost pinpoint how it has happened - I didn't ride throughout December because of my crash, hardly at all through January because of the rain, got back into it at the beginning of February but last week I was mashing away at the pedals way too hard. My right knee feels very unpleasant. Sort of a dull ache and the joint feels swollen and not too stable if I load it up. Urgh.

I'd say it IS worse than GD. The sad thing is one or two of them take it a bit too far and I bet they take it out onto the road with them, then it's one of us minding our own business on our way to work who are on the receiving end of it.

Im llooking for some good but not expensive tyres (£25 max per tyre), preferably 25mm but im guessing 23mm will work as well. anybody know of any sales that are on or good tyres to buy?]

Im guessing 23mm tyres will be fine on my bike, it originally came with 25mm on the giant sr-2 wheels.

Saw a very odd thing on my drive back from football this evening, a commuter with lots of panniers on a hybrid, but with a turbo tyre on the rear! Guy must have had a death wish, would not want to ever ride on the road even if it was bone dry on a turbo tyre.

Just realised I didn't get the email from strava about the premium trial!

You might be a little late to the party but there is still some stock left:

Hmm.

Developed a bad saddle sore :(

On a good note, weighed myself and down about a kilo which is good. Extra watts per kg!!! ;)

Thumbs up to Rotor USA who emailed me back, unfortunately the 2 and 2.5mm Allen headed lock rings are different pitch thread and the one I need is out of stock. See if rotor Spain get back to me.

I've had this a couple of times and looking at your age it's no surprise you've developed it riding a fixie, they will destroy the strongest of knees eventually. I'd love one but I've got no chance, my knees are so bad I had to make myself ride at a higher cadence on a fully geared bike just to avoid it. :D

Hope it goes away soon.

In fairness to Motors they are enthusiasts and like any group of enthusiasts on a forum there's a degree of elitism amongst them. Same with cyclists really. Pretty childish to be honest so I try ignore it, as hard as that may be.. But yeah, taking that kind of attitude out on the road is a recipe for disaster.

I've had it in my left knee. It still doesn't feel 100% but I don't think it ever has, even before I began cycling. At least it doesn't hurt any more.

Rest, followed by plenty of stretching, foam rolling and knee taping helped alleviate symptoms. I put an ice pack on it after a ride until the symptoms had completely gone.
