A close friend of mine was knocked down last night and she's in a pretty bad way. Broken nose and face all smashed up, may be disfigured for life. No broken limbs but she's badly bruised all over, probably helped by the fact that she's a runner and triathlete. I was only running with her at the weekend and she was nearly killed last night. Bad times.

Touch wood that she's ok.

Mate of mine went over a car bonnet last year and was left with a fractured jaw, eye socket and lacerations to the face requiring stitches. 12 months on and she's absolutely fine, you wouldn't know she'd been injured, so I hope it's the same for your mate.

Must get ground to properly stripping my Cervelo and getting it on eBay.

What Cervelo do you have?

I was looking at the 2012 Cervelo range last night. For some bizarre reason, the new S5 is almost £1000 less than the old S3, even though it's a supposedly better bike. Does not compute! ;)

That's awful :(

I hope she makes a full recovery. We seem to be reading about such accidents more and more frequently :(

I've got a 2008 S1. It's a size 51 and it's too short for me on the head tube.

Guy I commute with has just picked up an S5 frame from Primera Sports. He's not built it up yet, but it does look a lovely bike.

When I was getting measured up for my Scott a customer was also being fitted for his R5CA. What a beast that is. He was having DI2 and Mad Fiber wheels on it. Total cost was expected to be £12k....

Size 51?! So you're a Puncheur then?

I'm going to get dropped like 2nd period French on the KK aren't I? :)

Hmm, currently in two minds about switching over to CX tyres now. I didn't cycle today because i've developed a stinking cold, but hope to get out tomorrow. The ice had me a bit nervous, i can see slick 23 tyres having a bit of a nightmare on the surfaces i drove over today, so hopefully my 35 CX tyres would be a bit safer but much harder work.

Or am i being a big wuss-bag? :p

It's like cycling through treacle. The way I see it;
1. It's safer no point being able to go faster and easier ride if the chances of being under a bus increases.
2. When it gets to summer thing of the speed/power you'll have gained.

It's certainly a thing of beauty.

*cough cough..

Christ, sorry to hear that Johnny. Please give her some good wishes from this random stranger.

My current plan is to reel in your 10 min head start over the first 20km and then blow up and hide in a hedge until you've gone past again. Then I'll make my way home and claim victory.

*cough cough...

Surely too small for you as well.

I'm expecting you to come blazing past about 2 minutes after I've discovered the first hill.

And I didn't realise I was taller than you.

Also saw this today. Seems to be in your neck of the woods Platypus. Any of you guys fancy that as well?
Interesting, I'm definitely happy to host. I may not be able to cycle because I'm doing a 32 mile fell race on March the 12th. I've entered though, as the donation will go to charity if I'm unable to ride :).

Ah.

I spoke to my friend. She hit some ice and skidded, but the car behind hit her and knocked her off, pretty much flipping her across the road. Sounds like she landed head and face first which is why her face is bashed up. They might need to re-set her nose and she's got stitches in her lips. She can't see a lot of it though because she's bandaged up. All things considered, she was in pretty good spirits. Good sign :)

Good to read mate :)

Do wish her well from the OCUK Cycling collective won't you?

If you chaps are after some Oakleys at a decent price, have a look here. Really decent discounts IMHO.

If only they had the Jawbones with white frames and cherry jaws! I'm such a colour coordination monkey ;)
