Hey guys, not been in here for a little while, but I've nearly finished off another bike build today and thought I'd put up a couple of pics before I get some better ones tomorrow when the light is better, and I also need to remove the wheel decals

This is an interesting one, will let this picture speak for itself:

Is that a real RCA? Not jealous at all if so!

Oh and its nearly a full 1.2 kg UNDER UCI weight with pedals and 50mm rims:

Will post up some more pics tomorrow after I index the gears and give it a clean.

Very tasty Bigsy - I do like a "stealth bomber" finish

If only, its an 1:1 copy in T800 carbon so built a fraction heavier at 850grams. I'm not really one for fakes, but I don't mind light Chinese frames, just so happens this is as light as you can get from other there and really the only reason I bought it.

Its amazingly well finished for the money, its bbright with asymmetrical chainstays etc, identical to the real thing really.

Wheels are fake too and I will take the decals off them, still they are really well built as well, and only 1.185kg for 50mm (tubs obviously).

Might not be the most popular decision but i'd say split your budget in two, look for a reasonably cheap track pump with pressure gauge to use at home and spend the rest on a hand pump that you can attach under your water bottle cage.

As for when to check pressures, similar to skye i just give them a squeeze before i take it out, but if it's significantly warmer or cooler than the last time i rode i'll probably break out the pump anyway.

I'm not going to split my budget... The tyre pressure from these wheels seem to go out quicker than MTB, is it due to the higher air pressure?

Blackburn air tower 2. Mine cost £25 new on eBay. People will recommend the topeak joe blow, but it's probably a wee bit outside your budget.
I'll have a look at both.
Cheers

Edit:

Blackburn 24.95 and Joe Blow 23.95
Which one would be better? As the price as long, as it's under 30 is ok :) (I hope, I don't get banned for posting these links :¦)

I wasn't sure what pump to get either, and didn't want to spend a fortune - might buy another in a while if I feel the need to, but I went for the Airace Infinity Sport from Amazon for £20 - been fine so far, anyway!

I'll just give the tires a squeeze every so often and if feels a little less than before I'd just give them a top up depending on the pressure once I get ready to pump.

That thing has the gauge upto 240psi
Thanks

I've got a joe blow and it does the job nicely. Tend to check the pressure every few days. Atm though it's dropping about 5psi front and rear in 2 days so might have a slow leak.
As I said before, I think the air escapes quicker due to the high air pressure. My rear wheel with new inter-tube and front with old (still new as the bike is not even 1 year old) the air pressure was this same. The gauge seems to work on my old pump but it just wouldn't pump the tyres of my roadie, anything upto 45psi is ok... I got the money back anyway soo.. not bad I guess :D

£30 is the lowest I'll spend on a pump.

No comment :p

But you can get that Topeak cheaper here - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/topeak-joe-blow-max-ii-track-pump/rp-prod4949

Which would leave enough left over for something like this - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/oxford-mini-pump-alloy/rp-prod83403

I do think it's a good idea to carry a pump with you, even if you don't have a puncture repair kit you can usually keep it inflated enough to get you home with a slow puncture. Last thing you want is to be out on a ride and get stuck miles from home.

EDIT: Alternatively, has anyone tried those little CO2 inflator things? Never used one myself but they look incredibly useful.

I do mine every few rides pressure is until It doesn't flatten the tyre under my weight :D

Yeah, that's how I check when the tyre needs more air and then use a gauge to be exact.

Yeah about that... ... fixed :p
Thanks for that link, I'll have to wait till tuesday for my pay... as currently I'm out of cash. So Joe blow than? :D

I'd never ONLY have a CO2 inflator. What if you manage to use one/two cartridges and then get another puncture or still fail to inflate the tyre for whatever reason and now have no means of inflation.

Either CO2+pump or just pump, might as well not bother with the CO2 imo and just go with a pump.

I have found with my batch of schwalbe valves that quite a few of them are poor - leaking. Had a box of 20 originally, gave some to mates before a large sportive a few years back; out of about 14, four of them had bad valves.

How is that saddle bigsy, have you covered many miles on it yet?
I started using a tioga spyder for mtb but found it the most comfortable saddle out there, so switch to it on my road bikes...I've done thousands of k's on my commuter with one.

They simply mold perfectly to your bum and the flex acts as built in suspension, also 140grams is very light, just as light as the specialized toupe carbon's which I was using, which were ok, but the tioga is just so comfortable.

Isn't that new Aussie (Caleb Ewan) the really quick one? Interesting to see if any home nations help each other

He's certainly quick, be interesting to see what the tactics are with the Aussies.

If Renshaw will act as lead out, or if they will both go for it as they are equally quick really.

Swapped saddles, more comfortable on my new one, set nose down 2.2 degrees I did 90km yday and no sore or numbness after. Its a Selle San Marco Aspide Open Carbon FX Protek (try saying that with a mouthful!) also got an Arundel Mandible bottle cage which is amazing, holds the bottle rock solid unlike the Elite cages I was using.

I made it to richmond park and back this morning. Just under a 30 mile round trip, including time getting a bit lost in Central London. The park seems nice enough - quite windy and exposed in parts. So many cyclists there! And loads of people who seemed very quick on a bike. My time won't be remotely impressive, but hey, at least I can say I've done it! grudas - I travelled over a hundred miles to do one lap, you have no excuse, get your arse over there ;)

Impressive! Well done mate. Did you get shiny bronze medals?

The results weren't available until about 10pm last night. I'm not sure if they send out extra medals for the top 3 of each race category but I hope so!

The fastest cyclist did the 20km in 27mins. The swimmer and runner were weak though so the team didn't rank highly.

Burn! :D

on my last ride some guy over took me on a hill and said "hi" and I noticed him on the flyby website and was tempted to comment on his ride but thought better off it.

I always wonder the true meaning behind it or they being friendly? or are they just being a sad ****** trying to show off.

I always say hello, hi etc when passing or being passed.

On yesterday's ride we were pushing on in a chain and overtook this guy who joined us for a few miles. Kept doing a turn rather than sitting in and I wanted to have a look at his ride.

This was ours - http://www.strava.com/activities/174236660 The group ride was the 60 miles in the middle, I had 10 either side. Very quick in places, just quick in others. Knackered.

Created a gallery for my rca homage if anyone's interested: http://imgur.com/a/pUDTB

I understand that replicas arnt going to be to everyone's taste, mine included if i'm honest, but the goal was to create the lightest bike possible for the least amount possible, which I'm getting quite good at now if anyone wants tips :)
