ShiWarrior - Do you still have the stock tyres on your CAADX? If so, just wondering what sort of PSI you use. I can't find the max PSI listed on the tyre anywhere :/

I do , but using some Continental 25c tyres at the moment

think its 80 or it could be around 65 psi , not too sure

so 2k miles on my vittorias.. rear is not round anymore! fine tires for the price though, more punctures than the heavier/cheaper non-pro version but way more grippy.

Better weather now pls. I should have gone out last night but didn't, and now tonight it's set to snow, Wednesday is set to be hideously windy, Thursday heavy wind and rain, Friday might OK but I want to go out Saturday morning... when it's set for more wind and rain.

STUPID WINTER.

Might have to raincheck this weekend, still not feeling great after my weekend illness, knackered just climbing the stairs still and probably need another couple of weeks to get my fitness a bit better.

No worries. Maybe the next weekend? Saturday 24th? I'm slightly hesitant about Saturday myself, as the weather isn't looking great. I'll probably take it a bit easier and stick to somewhere flat. I want to ride through Lymm and then past Warrington to see if I can get up to that Dream statue you can see from the M62.

I suggest better tyre levers, and lots of practice. I have the same bike, stock wheels etc. Removing the original tyre took a bit of time (10mins), as I hadn't done it before, but putting on the trainer tyre took seconds. At what point did you struggle? Are you sure you have gatorskins? My PX came with Continental Ultrasport Wire Bead Tyre.

Spending £250 on a new wheel set, just seems really overkill.

I upgraded when I purchased and they fitted them for me, so before I have another bash at these tyres, what levers and tyres do you recommend? I'll admit I haven't much experience with road tyres, done plenty of mountain bike ones though, I'm just a bit worried about taking the trainer tyre off and pinching another 2 tubes!!

I actually have these extremely cheap levers but despite how cheap they are they're excellent:

It sounds like you just need a little more practice. Have you also tried adding a tiny amount of air to the tube before you put the tyre on? You can literally just blow the air into the tube with your mouth - it doesn't need much. The slight inflation makes it a lot easier to avoid getting the tube caught in the wrong place.

So, you struggle putting on the new tyre without pinching the tubes? No problems removing the old tyre?
In that case, tyre levers won't necessarily help, although they are handy for 'whinching' the last bit of tyre over the rims.

As others have said, putting a little air in your tubes before you place them on the rims, will help immensely

Well i've been quiet a few days as I'm over in Arinsal, Andorra snowboarding! It's going well and the cycling i've done since my last boarding sessions (Jan 2013) has made a big difference to my stamina and recovery! Garmin VIRB is working well too!

One of the ones I do on TR a lot atm is Galena - which is (up to) 3 * 20 minute intervals at about 90% of your full power (with some rest/warmup in there too so it works out at 1.5 hours). These are challenging but to be honest nowhere near as tough as the Sufferfest videos I've done. I've no idea how well using an HRM instead of virtual power works though. Personally I'd get on the virtual power bandwagon asap :p

Thanks for this buddy, I missed it the first time round! Will take another look at TR and get my free month started when home.

great price for an epic bit of kit! IMO ;)

Great price, similar to what I paid on the Black Friday IWOOT deal!

I pinch tubes when refitting them too, had a right nightmare fitting a 23c turbo tyre a few weekends back! Normal road tyres have more give than the turbo so they won't be as difficult - you can 90% fit them with your fingertips! Although my fingertips do start to tyre out after fitting 4+! ;)

Urgh. Got my heart rate up to 192bpm on the turbo but then felt like I was going to fall off so backed off. Not sure I could have got it any higher. I'll have to try it on the road sometime I think.

Snowboarding videos incoming? :)

Definitely worth it. As it's turbo it's still boring but the workout is really good. I've struggled to get anything close to as good on the road.

"tyre" out? :p

Well.. a max HR is meant to be just that - max HR. If you can happily sit at your 'max' HR for hours on end then clearly something is up.

Dont forget your garmin to strava it!

Aye, true, but I felt like I was going to fall off because the turbo was wobbling, not because I couldn't have pushed a bit more power out! I need a wattbike...

I bet you can squeeze a beat or too more out of it :)
I am getting back into TrainerRoad. The Sweet spot sessions are a nice balance of stressing me a bit but not destroying me and putting me off going back for the next session. If it wasnt so expensive I'd do the http://www.thesufferfest.com/tour-sufferlandria-2015/
Also picked up a new saddle to try. Been suffering with a troublesome saddle sore that just wont clear up completely so I have used my £10 Evans voucher to try
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/fabric/scoop-flat-elite-saddle-ec072155
Couldnty find a Fizik Antares for under £60 new or used so will try this. Got it for £29. Praying it works otherwise I am going to have to go to the quack and get my nads out!
