Garmin turned up today :) Hurray!

Unfortunately, Wiggle order did not :/ Their delivery is terrible. The annoying thing is, the warehouse is 3.5miles away, but they won't let me pick it up :/

grudas - ease up on the undertakes mate, you'll get yourself killed!

Did a quick mockup with the wheels since I brought the frame in to true them up some time later this week.

Bikes used to be so long :p

Lol :p

I'm considering getting a Virb but I'm also tempted by some of the cheapo Chinese cameras as for not much money I could record forward and back. I may end up getting the cheap cameras first and then vetting a Virb later on. The hassle of turning on multiple cameras for recording sounds a bit tedious though.

Not all of Manchester is that bad but certain roads are terrible around rush hour. I say certain roads but really it's pretty much just Wilmslow road - and these days I try to avoid it as even if you're happy weaving through traffic you can go so much faster if you take any of the other main roads that run in the same direction.

Seems to be between the mobius if you want something small and the SJ4000 if you want something waterproof. Just watch out for Chinese knock
offs... of Chinese knock offs.

What is this?

I didn't take the risk this morning. Probably just as well because the first car I came across was a woman barreling down the road and turned into my road as if there was no ice or snow on the road. I pulled out pretty sharpish because at the speed she was going there was a pretty high chance she'd have just slid into the side of me. I think what scares me most is how many people genuinely have no idea how close they are to completely losing control.

I think that's the thing - people just don't realise how slippy it can be! I used to live fairly rural (farm boy) so I've had my fair share of slides and bumps-into-hedges-because-you-can't-do-anything. Until you've had some serious slides (I've done several 180's and a 360 on icey roads before now) people really don't appreciate the danger, especially when it's on their doorstep! Nobody has any patience anymore (not just grudas, I mean car drivers!) they half-clear their windscreens and drive the road the same speed they do as in the summer otherwise they'll be late for work. No respect of the conditions, no appreciation of ice/snow and certainly no respect for any other road users (cyclists included). Anyone slowing them down is seen as a target for road rage!:o

That's a bit rubbish, don't they have a shop near? I've never had a problem with their deliveries, only the occasional one that takes 3 days rather than 2! Bet you're chuffed you got your Garmin back! :D

My VIRB was 'cheap' (£70), I guess the trade-off will be the quality you're after, the battery life and the compatibility.

What is this?

Vintage bike build, older than his PC spec (maybe)? ;)

I fitted my VIRB to my bike (finally) last night and recorded my commute in (2.6gb .mp4 @ 1080p!), will record my commute home too and upload them for a grudas traffic comparison! ;)

What editing software do you use grudas? I'm guessing the Garmin one for the overlay...

My cockpit is starting to get a bit full!

Wiggle free delivery used to be brilliant. The cynic in me says they've deliberately borked it to make you pay for next day.

Having said that though I paid for Saturday delivery last week and it turned up on Monday - they refunded the delivery cost, but still annoying as I wanted the jacket for riding that weekend!

I'd say go for virb, if you can find at £99ish! ;) sj4000 is alright but can't deal with sunny conditions well enough..

for rear camera I'd go for something small, mobius is not a bad idea but it isn't waterproof..

Meh, I ordered some parts on Thursday night and they arrived yesterday. Can't complain about that.

I think it's just because I'm so close. For some reason my orders from Wiggle go to Birmingham before coming back here, madness. 3.5 miles, I wish I could just cycle there.

Did you just get the software from the web? I've not even updated the firmware on the VIRB yet as not had a problem with it! :o

I like the upfront idea, but would want the mount to double up with my garmin on top... Footage from mine is very 'left-sided' - looks like I'm running over drains the whole commute when I'm actually missing them!:p

You mean they don't use local bike couriers?! ;)

My guess would be them using some kind of transport-hub system based in Birmingham.

Real world example - Company I work for has a customer with an outlet next door. Due to their hub system we have items collected by a national distribution company (based in Sheffield), delivered to a hub in the midlands, who then have to bring them back to Hereford.

Items leaving here may be 4-5 days before they have eventually travelled to next door... Via Birmingham and occasionally Sheffield. 'Cost saving' apparently!

mine's not centered either! :) other side tho.. :)

I do recommend getting the software pack -; http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6591

and update your virb! lots of fixes and improvements over the time :)

I'd heard of the updates etc, just getting round to it! I've got about 16 hours of snowboarding footage to get through too...

Heard the Gamin video editor is quite good?

My new bike came today :)
Get some miles on it tomorrow :p

Looks fast! Looks expensive! Wheels really compliment the frame and colours, enjoy! :D

It's a Specialized Roubaix - the fork, seat stays and seat post have 'Zertz' elastomer vibration damper inserts designed for comfort. They take the buzz out of the road.

Where's the fun in that! Lots of cobbles around Peterborough? ;)

Hmm the replacement Garmin seems to be faulty. Battery dropped from 100% to 71%, with 10 minutes of cycling. The screen keeps locking as well.
