Looks good! Been pricing up options for a new bike, R3 was one of them, but think I've decided on an S3 now.

What made you decided to go with the R3?

---

Edit:

Anyone had any experience buying bike kit from the EU (Germany for example). Cervelo S3 Frame works out almost £400 cheaper ordering in Euros and getting it shipped to the uk. (£40 shipping)

I went for the R3 as I like to climb mountains and do longer rides so comfort was the main thing. The R3 is slightly lighter too but its probs around 100 grams so pretty marginal. I like to go fast so the R3 is good for this, my rides are usually very undulating, but I dont race so didnt want to sacrifice comfort over aero. The R series are the bikes that most of the Garmin team were using last year over the S. The geometry can be made very aggresive in the R. I'm a 56 frame in the R3 where as all previous bikes have been 58 and I'm 6ft 1.

The new 2015 S3 is meant to be a very good bike still and people are having the same debate on the Cervelo forum: http://forums.cervelo.com/forums/p/15165/101479.aspx
It looks like you are a racer and will be mainly be racing on UK terrain at least at present so I'd probably go for the S3 if I was in your shoes.

I bought the frame in the UK from a Cervelo dealer, as wanted to make sure I have the lifetime warranty on the frame. If anything goes wrong with the frame I only need to return it to the UK. That said my friend who built the bike has bought lots of cervelo frames to build bikes for people and not had one warranty claim in many years. I also did not want to buy second hand as you dont get a warranty then from Cervelo.

Didn't quite get up in time to do the 10 mile route to work but knocked out 7.5 miles and despite doing my First Ever Run (tm) yesterday my legs weren't completely dead. I'm a bit worried that it'll be more like when I first started squats/deads though and tomorrow will be far worse

Probably mild shin splints, achy groin and tired feet if you're not used to running.

On that subject, up until now if you have only been cycling and just taken up running, keep a close eye on your ITB which will be very underdeveloped compared to the rest of your leg muscles. It's your typical runners injury point but it's much more likely to trouble you because cycling will develop the glutes, thighs and calves but not the support mechanisms for the knee like the ITB, cruciate etc. The other muscles will be stronger and will pull the hell out of it until it becomes strong enough :)

I'm hoping my years of squats and deads will have helped with that but I do agree, I'm very worried about injuring myself due to muscle imbalances and my cardio fitness being higher than my body's ability to deal with the stress of running.

Weirdly my shins are fine today. That makes me more worried than if they ached a little bit :p

Can anyone recommend anywhere other than Wiggle, that has reliable delivery?

Desperate for some tyres, DPD has lost them, and Wiggle want me to wait until next week before they refund me. Never ordering from them again.

Just entered the TdY Sportive - 108km route. Was tempted to by the 140km option but have the Budapest Half Marathon in April which needs some training effort!

That sucks :/ CRC's delivery isn't amazing to be honest but I do often end up using them. I'd assume their next day delivery wouldn't be that awful.

Merlin are usually pretty good.

Talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water.

I think they've dropped the "zertz" from the new roubaix and just gone for a slightly wider profile tyre to soak up the vibration a bit more.

Or not :p

Lol! Although that would be fun to ride on dunes with...

The FTP you guys are putting out is gonna put mine to shame! :(

Tempted to click the button on a Kurt Kinetic Road Machine II :o

The RMII is a great trainer, I have nothing to compare it to but I'm very pleased with mine! It's stable, very well made and I doubt I'll ever need the warranty it comes with (it's that well made!). My only gripe would be the colour (never been a huge fan of green) and more variation on the resistance (would be good for some really high setting for difficult hill climbs).

As I said I have no comparison but I also don't expect to replace mine until I need more features (FTP/Watts etc) which would come with a more digital based much more expensive Tacx trainer.

Glad to hear you can stand today, I expect it'll be like the day-after-the-day-after-leg-day feeling though tomorrow! Unless you're planning more running today? ;)

I'll get my ANT+ USB later, I'm half tempted to get on the turbo tonight, should my first ride on TR be one to get the feel of it or should I go straight into the shorter FTP test...?

Hardest thing is gonna be figuring out how to mount the laptop... I'm thinking some kind of tray strapped to the top arm of my Jobsworth bike stand in front of me... What does everyone else use? Bear in mind I'm outside so have no shelves/tables etc!

PlanetX or Wheelies I've used instead of Wiggle for things, but paying for delivery/crappy websites/pay for returns do my head in.

I'd be quite annoyed if a package was clearly lost but the company refused to refund or replace for a random amount of time too tbh.

Wiggle will have to wait for a period of time before they can dispute it with the courier. I had to wait 28 days when MyHermes 'lost' something - person I sent something to said they never received it, even though MyHermes had a signature they couldn't verify the address it had been delivered to. Full refunds all round, Ebay/Paypal blocking my accounts took longer to sort and was an utter nightmare as the person opened a case against me rather than messaging me (even when they had the tracking info and could see I'd despatched it).

How tired are your legs? I'd be tempted to go straight in for an FTP test personally. It may mean you get a lower FTP than you would do otherwise but it will at least mean you've got a good base to work from (and it's always satisfying to get rapid gains if your FTP is read a little low initially) :)

I'm planning on jumping on the turbo a little later hopefully. No more running until the weekend though.

Do you really find that the Road Machine needs more resistance btw? The gear set up on my turbo bike allows 50 * 11 and I doubt I could spin away for long with that

I just want some tyres, or the money back to go elsewhere. I'm angry that they want me to wait till after the weekend, when they've already admitted that package has been lost.

I understand that mistakes happen, and deliveries can't always be made, but I would expect better customer service.
