When it's windy it's not so good, but then neither is SS.
Tell me about it. It was blowing a gale on the way home on Friday and I was riding into it. I was destroyed by the time I got home :(

Just waiting for the new tyres to arrive and I'll flip the wheel around. I'm just scared about getting my feet into the toeclips when the pedal is moving :D

Done my 50mile ride today. Hard work in places on a recumbent but fun.
Hit 40mph on one downhill. That was fun.
3hrs 57min ride time according to the computer.
Pain has to arrive, that'll be tonight and tomorrow.
Still I'm impressed considering lack of milage.
Sounds like a good ride, and makes me feel really feeble for struggling with 26 miles!

You just have to start slow, but it's worth it for the removal of dead-spots in your pedal rotation. I did all of last winter on my fixed and it was great, not to mention the easy maintenance.

Get Endomondo for your phone :). Great to see your route/altitude vs speed etc. Example: http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/2971379

First 20 were hard with the hills and the gearing on the recumbent is rubbish as it's circa 1996 Shimano group set on the back. With the front ring combination i was struggling to find the right gear for spinning some times.
From the first "tea and cake" stop to the 2nd is was downhill with a fair bit of flat towards to the 2nd "tea and cake" stop.
still that caused a few problems with my right leg and foot but the time flew by(in a relative sense).
from the 2nd stop to the finish was along some of the worst cycling roads yet at the same time they are good roads that are used for 10, 25, 50, 100 mile and 12hr TIme Trials. Open, flat and prone to being windy.

Wish I'd put more miles in but it was a toss up between doing the ride with what residual fitness I had or training hard and making the MS worse and not doing the ride.

If you get the chance, these events are great. Very friendly and brilliant ridiing with total strangers. the recumbent got lots of attention even had some "roadies" giving me a "respect" shout.
most comments were "how do you balance" or "how do you steer"

Hybrid hunt now, just seen that Whyte are doing hybrids, so need to see how easy to change from thumb shifter to twist shifter.

I just got my new hybrid yesterday and I'd like to change the pedals on it.

Currently it has some plastic bodied, metal outer, strapped pedals and I'd like some plain flat pedals without the straps/toe clips.

Which all metal flat pedals would you recommend?

I really like my Wellgo LU-950 pedals. All metal and good value.

Avoid quills (example: MKS Sylvan) if you're not using toeclips, because you'll get fed up having the flick them over to pedal on the right side.

They don't fit? Which bike were you trying to fit them to?
My TT bike. Super narrow wheels and clearance.

Really tempted to buy a Ribble 7005 Audax Road Bike for the winter, and consider selling or upgrading it in the spring. Looks like a really good bike for the money.

Try the dhb gear at wiggle all top quality gear at decent price. I'm not sure what's happening at wiggle at the moment seem to be running stocks down to zero so not sure if you'll get anything

dhb have announced their 2011 kit which will be hitting the store in Oct / Nov, consequently all the existing kit is marked down and being discontinued. Some of the 2011 kit looks great.
