Sounds like a good ride, and makes me feel really feeble for struggling with 26 miles!
First 20 were hard with the hills and the gearing on the recumbent is rubbish as it's circa 1996 Shimano group set on the back. With the front ring combination i was struggling to find the right gear for spinning some times.
From the first "tea and cake" stop to the 2nd is was downhill with a fair bit of flat towards to the 2nd "tea and cake" stop.
still that caused a few problems with my right leg and foot but the time flew by(in a relative sense).
from the 2nd stop to the finish was along some of the worst cycling roads yet at the same time they are good roads that are used for 10, 25, 50, 100 mile and 12hr TIme Trials. Open, flat and prone to being windy.
Wish I'd put more miles in but it was a toss up between doing the ride with what residual fitness I had or training hard and making the MS worse and not doing the ride.
If you get the chance, these events are great. Very friendly and brilliant ridiing with total strangers. the recumbent got lots of attention even had some "roadies" giving me a "respect" shout.
most comments were "how do you balance" or "how do you steer"
Hybrid hunt now, just seen that Whyte are doing hybrids, so need to see how easy to change from thumb shifter to twist shifter.
