Is the 500 worth twice as much if you don't intend to use any of the ANT+ features?

If you dont want any ANT+ stuff, the only difference i can think of is that the 500 does temperature as well.
It's handy to have ANT+ tho just incase you decide that you want a heart rate monitor/cadence sensor/power meter in future.

Does anyone here use a base layer in summer? I've read that wearing a wicked base layer can help draw sweat away from you and keep you cooler. Seems a bit counter-intuitive though!
I wear Underarmour "HeatGear" compression base layers almost all year around; it's only when it gets above 30C that I abandon them. I find that they get the sweat off me a lot quicker than a jersey alone can, which is the main benefit in my view.

Garmin seem to be doing £30 cash back on the Edge 200. Which means one can be picked up for around £70 after cash back.

Is the 500 worth twice as much if you don't intend to use any of the ANT+ features? Also quite like the 800's but again at the price can't really justify the difference when it would only be particularly useful for 2-3 out of area long distance rides a year.

I'm a runner who rides. It's a lot easier that way round. If you're a cyclist who takes up running, you won't have developed a lot of the support mechanisms that runners have through their legs, or the core strength. Your joints won't be used to taking impacts, your ITB will be very underdeveloped in comparison to your thigh muscles (which will lead to an injury fairly quickly) and you won't have any strength around your ankles, knees or shins. Even I notice that if I neglect my running and cycle a lot, my legs start to change and my running suffers. I'd recommend any cyclists who want to take up running take it very easy at first or you'll net yourself an injury.

Anyone get anything decent for Father's Day?
I got to spend the day with my dad?

Nice :) Did you go for the micro floor drive HPG?

I've not got round to ordering it yet! Please let us know what you think of it once you've had a play.
That's the chep. I haven't tried it out yet, but it feels like a very capable machine and very well made. The only worry I might have is it feels like you might need to really lean on it to put over 100psi in, but this is not a problem. I might bring it into work and it can be my work pump when I don't have a weekend ride :)

Thanks Jonny :) I was reading through the reviews just a moment ago. I've ordered the same pump now but have to make the basket up for free delivery but hopefully will have my hands on it next week sometime.

Lezyne really have taken the appearance of cycle accessories to a whole new level. Some of their stuff I'd avoid though, such as the CO2 pumps, but everything else Lezyne I've played with has been very good quality.

No way! The pros don't wear base layers so that sounds like complete rubbish/marketing gibberish to me.

You'd be surprised, I've definitely seen Saxo Bank wearing them in the past even on the hottest days and Radioshack Nissan Trek will apparently be wearing this this year: http://www.alwaysriding.co.uk/craft-cool-mesh-superlight-sleeveless-base-layer-373.html

They aid evaporative cooling so will help keep you cool providing it isn't too humid, as evaporative cooling becomes less effective as humidity increases. By keeping you slightly dryer they should in theory stop you freezing on descents too.

Since it tends to be fairly humid in the UK I'm not sure how useful they would be here.

Well, I am writing this from the side of the road after a second puncture! I was just sitting here on the bike calling someone and suddenly there's a massive hiss and the backs gone flat.:/

So, spec me!

Tyres are currently Michelin Dynamic Sports - 23 - 622 (700 x 23C), front inner tube I have no idea, rear one is a specialised something or other.

Are there any better tyres for not getting punctures? Better inner tubes? I'd like slick tyres, and I'm not worried if they're heavier, just so long as I don't get punctures! What about those gooey tubes?

Thanks for any help.:)

P.s, don't send out the ocuk rescue party, the gf is on her way!!

I've just received X2 Hutchinson Fusion 3 tubeless tyres, 700 x 23. Popped em on with a stans no-tubes kit, plus sealant. Has worked fine on a 100k ride last Sunday. I'm doing a 160k ride this weekend. I'll let you know how I get on.

good:- roll v fast, very smoth ride

bad:- flipping dear @ rrp 50 quid a pop (35 quid frm wiggle atm) tight bead, bugger to get on.

Good tyres. I tried them and the Atoms on my tubeless set-up but the Atoms were just too thin at 19mm.

Remember to keep your pump clean. The latex in the tubes can spray back into the pump when connecting / disconnecting. If it builds up then you could be left pumpless.
