I'd recommend the Topeak Joe Blow Max II Track Pump.

Seconded. Brilliant pump for hitting the high pressures.

I won't repeat others as they have told you what you need. The only other things is lightning reflexes. On a bike, on the road at speed you can guarantee that something will pull out in front of you at the last possible moment. At least when I'm mountain biking trees and rocks stay where they are (although I still hit them...)

What do you run one your bike rafster? I know you've just forked out for some deep rim shimanos; what are they like and are they weekend specials or daily runs as well?

I'm speaking to wheelsmith about some IRD 30mm Aeros with DuraAce hubs, but in a 28/32 spoke set-up to handle commuting. Waiting for them to come back with a weight for me.

No I was on about the ones you where referring too.

In this post?

Not decided what I'm getting rid of and what I'm keeping yet, but the oversizes I've got shorter than that are a cheap 100mm 7deg Bontrager and a 100mm 6deg 3T Arx Team.

Yes, those are some stems that I'm going to put on eBay.

Dura Ace 7850 50mm on the ROI, mainly weekend runs really, haven't commuted on them yet. I commute on Racing 5s or Zefiro K38s (which have a crap hub). they are pretty awesome, you can definately feel them at higher speeds, pedalling feels slightly effortless. Not too bad on hills either to be honest. I run them with latex tubes and Michelin Pro 3s. I promise I will take pics this weekend when I am back home.

The Dura Ace hub is gorgeous. It just reeks of quality.

Hmmm, I jsut missed out on some Racing Zeros for £500 on eBay. I pulled out my snipe at the last minute.

Right, I'm now looking at IRD 30mm Areos on Dura Ace Hubs (from wheelsmith) or the Dura Ace 7850 CLs (those are the carbon lamiate ones), Eason EA90 SLX or Racings from eBay (probably 3s).

The problem is that I want something light, fast and aero (for triathlons) but robust enough to cope with commuting. I could just get some custom Gigantex 50mm tubs and keep the Roval Paves for commuting, but 99% of my riding is commuting so I want wheels I'll enjoy there.

I think I'll probably go for something light rather than aero and robust; live with the truing (this bike only gets used in the summer anyway I used a fixed in the winter) and the minor additional drag on triathlons (I don't do many anyway).

As one wheel builder but it: "Half my clients want something incredibly light so as to compete but strong enough to not need maintaining, and the other half want the complete opposite; a wheel strong enough to never go out of true, but light enough to allow them to compete."

It's all too complicated. Obviously I need more wheels, but I'm also looking at a new winter commuter (gates carbon drive, alfine hub, disc brakes and Ti frame if Roastie on BR hopefully manages to get over his problems and get it off the ground) and there is no way I'll get it all past the Mrs.

I've made my choice at least 100 times in the last few days. Just going to forget about it for the moment and come back to it in a week or so.

Have been tempted by the meet, but I don't think I can make it. Got a busy weekend and I think I'm off to Beckenham for lunch tomorrow. If not, I might just come for a quick lap / pint.

Where and what time are people meeting?
