I had planned to ride this morning before it gets too hot, however I like my bed too much. Slept past my intended time, didn't get a lift to work from the gf, then had to ride the bike in.

I normally take the MTB, but the rear calipers sticking so took the roadie.

Big mistake, tough work pants and boxers mixed with a high saddle position led to major chaffage even though its only 3-4km ride. Major and I mean major red raw now! :o

on another note, my club run was cancelled for today, so i took the oppotunity to do some Hill work
so i rode up the same one twice, and i managed to get 6 acheivements, it was a nice hill for a beginner, as it starts easy, starts sloping up then goes flatish for a little bit then goes up slope again, then another flat, then a final accend to the top wihth a steep bit right at the top, i thought I wouldnt do it as easy as that, so i rode down it and did it again!

considered, but i dont see myself doing anything other than some less paved routes so i doubt i need full on hardtail, 40C tyres would be ideal i have a dream build in mind, just not the budget

Your only going to get quicker on hills by doing them, good going :)

Did my own hills this morning, 3400ft over 50miles, knackered now! Head wind for the first 15 miles and most difficult part!

If anyone see's any bargain road shoes in size 12 please shout up. I don't know whether to go for the dHB ones as they get good reviews, it's my first foray in to road shoes as I'm coming from SPD's.

I'm going to go for the Time i-Clic 2 Red Racer pedals as they got 5/5 at RRP of over £100 on BikeRadar and they are £53 at Planet X at the moment.

Planet X do 'Carnac Notus' for £45, they are less than half price in my size, does anyone know anything about them? I'd ideally want black but if they are good then I could be swayed to go for white.
 
The Carnacs are pretty for the money though they aren't amazing quality. The dhbs are always worth a look, I've had a pair of both their regular road shoes and the carbons. I've had the carbons for a year and they still look pretty tidy even after commuting in them. Depends on your budget but you can't go far wrong with any of those.
 
Cool thanks for the input. I'm getting a pompino from Planet X in Jan and I'm taking advantage of the half price retul bike fit when you buy a bike but on my Giant bike instead. I think I'd benefit from road shoes and pedals so I might as well get the pedals and shoes before my fit.
 
Nice surprise waiting for me at home yesterday.. cant open it till Xmas tho!

Finally got my Woolie socks from DeFeet today, which i ordered last month!

cant wait to try them now, but no idea when , hopefully sunday if weather is good

got my merino wool socks todaty and it says to wash in a 30 degree wash

scrap that, just says cold wash


so ive only got these socks to wash in cold, i dont really want to wash these on their own, any ideas?

My socks are OK at 30 because I assume they are a wool blend, but the jerseys are definitely 100% wool. I'd check before washing yours.
