Wow! That'll be amazing, very jealous. How much has that cost if you don't mind me asking?

Staying in a relative's apartment so getting a cheaper rate than we otherwise would, looking at £500 for the two weeks plus flights.

Still suffering a hangover from our last trip there in September, I love climbing and once you've cycled there it's hard to get as excited about the roads here! Hoping this will push me to train in preparation though.

It's a bit soggy today (read: I nearly took out my wheels several times on potholes I couldn't see through the torrent) but I guess it tops up my badass quota for the year...

Has anyone got any suggestions for any decent cycling books? Got my eyes on a couple as Christmas gifts. Maybe something which looks at improving your riding. something focusing on hill climbing. Or just a general book. Just suggest something which you've heard is good, or which you know is good :D

Definitely fewer bikes on the road in this weather but, meh, more space for me :D

true lol! :) im surprised my wheels are still there.. the amount of potholes i hit each day is stupid.. thinking about it, central london has the worst roads through my commute..

Definitely get the secret race by Tyler Hamilton if you haven't read it already. Fantastic book and most intriguing. I couldn't put it down.

and you will have a nice set of lights! :) those cheap LED ones really are POOP :) if you want to be seen invest into proper front lights - i have those "flashlights" as my front lights with 18650 batteries in them(need to charge them up once a week - use them for ~2hrs a day) it has 3 modes strobe/full/low

and the rear light is really strong too :) having 2x1/2w LED's will be perfect for any night riding you do.

In a similar vein (ba-dum-tish), David Millar's book is very good.

I read Paul Kimmage's Rough Ride just recently. It's not easy to get hold of, but it was very good.

As for the helmet debate, I see no reason not to wear one, I always wear one now, when I was younger I would ride to school and work without one though.

Let people make their own decisions as to if they feel it is required.

I have been pretty lax recently, managed to force myself out a few times to try and avoid losing all my fitness. Christmas coming up won't help either I feel.

I know the feeling. I'm finding it hard to go out on my usual weekend ride at the moment. It's ok if I have to go somewhere (work/visiting family etc) but I reckon I'll probably knock the casual rides on the head for a while unless the weather's really nice.

tbh apart from my commute to and from work I'm lacking the motivation to go on longer rides atm too.
tried the local cycle club out, decided the're not the group for me so will check out some of the smaller ones around and about.

I've just been gyming it three times a week, I just can't face going out in the damp and dark! Cycling machine at the gym is pretty hardcore tho, my legs are actually getting bigger.:D
