the canyons are incredibly good value but they are very low on stock and apparently not restocking until 2013 models come out later in the year

You can upload GPX/TCX files to Strava, so as long as your device can export to those formats, you can upload your activities.

I have joined the group, my name is James Saunders. I don't bother to upload my daily commute of 8.5 miles; because there are too many traffic lights and junctions to make it a useful thing to keep track of.

That's cool, thanks man.

Thats an awesome time for your first TT! Well done.

Thanks. :). I'm genuinely over the moon with my time. I did quite a lot of riding around (about a month or so) on the TT bars before throwing myself into it though. I do a lot of riding (just not at that speed) so had plenty of base fitness. It was a very flat course as well which helped! Would love to go sub 25 this season. That's basically my goal now.

Impressive! :)

I'm just aiming to do a 20mph 10 mile average on my own. Done it couple of times on a 19mph average. If i can do that then i 'may' be able to average 25mph in a group apparently..... :)

Need a wrist watch with a stop watch so i can see my time and how i'm doing.

Thanks. :). Garmins are great if you can afford\justify one. If not you can get really cheap bike computers that will do time\distance\average speed etc. 20mph over 10 miles was tough for me until this TT. Traffic\junctions\lights obviously don't help!!

It takes much less effort to ride in a pack. Upto 40% less if you're sheltered from the front and doing 25mph+ I think. So if you can maintain 20mph on your own 25mph in a group wouldn't be a huge push if the course was flat. If you've got a headwind, it would be even easier. :)

Also how did you get into that first TT Murf?

I joined a cycle club back in January but basically only joined them for the occasional Sunday morning ride and rode 'for' them in Sportives. But the website said they held Club 10's every Wednesday evening in the summer (due to light restrictions) and I'd been threatening to go for absolutely ages. The little extra kick from watching the track cycling (team pursuit basically) meant I decided to go along this week.

I went along on my own and most of the guys there had been doing it for years but they were all approachable\friendly. Got plenty of advice from an old timer (must have been ~65) who happened to be in the same club as me that I'd never met. So I just went and chatted to him. Told him I was just hoping to go sub 30mins (my best commutes of about 10 miles are 20-21mph with a tailwind) and he said not to worry. Pointed over to an older guy in the distance and said "He is 85, and he rides sub 30mins so you should be ok, mind you, he was on the shortlist for the 1948 Olympics." :D. I panicked at that point. :p

Out of the 60 riders I'd say 40 or so had serious TT kit. Full TT bikes, aero\disc wheels, lots of aero helmets too. A couple had skinsuits on as well. But there were quite a few people on road bikes, some didn't even have aero bars. Was well marshalled and good fun. Going back next week but I recommend you give it a go. I was surprised how much faster I went due to being in competition.

Beautiful day to get out on the bike and soak up some Vitamin D. Did a nice leisurely 40 miler just enjoying the scenery and heat.

I was just looking on canyon.com, ive never really looked at them before and this caught my eye
http://www.canyon.com/_uk/roadbikes/bike.html?b=2503

Its got electronic shifts on it, and its only £1669, thats incredible considering that the Di2 group set is like a grand by its self!

Absolutely fantastic bikes. I bought my first Canyon in February and was so impressed with it I bought my old man a Canyon MTB in April which he rides everyday and loves. Another friend just sold his Boardman comp with full Ultegra and picked up the Canyon you linked to with Di2 and he also loves it.

If budget isn't an issue I would be tempted to wait a month or so for the 2013 models, as rumour has it they have reduced the weight on some of the framesets by more than 200g

Im not looking to buy a new bike this year, im more than happy with my Boardman Road Team at the moment, i plan on using over the winter and keep it until the spring or early summer next year, then pick up a bike like that Canyon i linked for the summer next year, im a sucka for gadgets and those electronic Di2 gears get me going lol

Anyone doing the Lake Vyrnwy charity ride this Sunday?

It's a 71 mile, reasonably hilly route, with a feed point at the lake. :)

I'm doing 80 miles on Saturday too tho, is going to be a tiring weekend!!

^ Nope.

I'm thinking of ordering a Garmin Edge 800 with Euro map and cadence/heart sensors for me and an Edge 200 for my old man. I think knowing my cadence and heart rate is probably the best upgrade I can do to take my cycling to the 'next level'.

Halfords:
Edge 800 £350
Edge 200 £105
- £40 for spending £400+
- £30 Garmin Cashback on the edge 200
- £20.50ish for Quidco in store cashback
Total: £365ish

That's pretty much a free Edge 200? Anyone know of any cheaper deals/offers? (I know Amazon do the 800 without map and sensors for £275) but the equivalent bundle is £338.60)

I'm in the market for an Edge 800 Enduro bundle (1:50k maps, HR + cadence). Cheapest known seller I've found is Winstanleys for £359.99.

I currently use my Garmin 310XT when riding, so that's good for HR and looking at the route once home but I want turn-by-turn nav' / maps so I can explore more of the country lanes without having to stop to check a paper map.
