Who was it that said my Cadence was too low?

well, i went out after work today, to concentrate on my cadence really
heres my ride :

That's quite low, but i cant offer much advice because i do the same. I usually average around 80-85rpm but i'v worked my way up from ~70.
Most people say 90-100rpm is a good target to aim for.

i find anything above 80 , my heart goes nuts and i feel as if i want to change gear

90-100 woa! I'll have to get the Garmin to display my current cadence on screen so I can keep track of it a little easier.

I managed to get my cadence up by simply using a gear or two lower than I would normally. Pedaling faster to keep the speed, but each pedal turn was easier. It seemed to balance itself out!

I ought to measure my cadence sometime. I'm forever counting my pedal strokes when I'm cycling, especially when I'm really giving it some, so it wouldn't be too much of a leap to combine that with a clock and work out my cadence. I'd guess at it being around 80 at most.

I'm thinking that since I can't really race up here due to working Saturday, seeing my GF on Sunday which is when most racing happens and I can't go out with the club runs as they are also Sat/Sun and Wednesday which I also work.

So I think I could have a wee go at the track since we have the velodrome now. Wednesday night the race league is on so I can make it, it's indoor so weather won't change that and it's not overly expensive but I'd still do my accreditation thing which is around £70 I believe.

i would so love to cycle around the Velododrome, even if im on my own, just to "do it" would be brill !

The group I ride with did it a few weeks back at the Manchester velodrome. I think they said it was about £250 for an hour, but you can have up to 16 people at a session, so it's not all that expensive when you split it out. You can hire shoes or bikes if you need to. It didn't sound too pricey all things considered. They had a great time doing it.

Is anyone a member of a cycle club here, and does anyone have a race license, I'm thinking about the idea of getting involved in a club and perhaps racing.

I am a member of a club and i have a racing license.

Join a club first and they will be able to advise you on what sort of license to get (time trials are run by a different organisation in england, so i'm not exactly sure how it works. Road racing is the same, run under britishcycling rules so you need a BC licence for that.

Now is the best time to join a club as well. The pace generally drops over the winter as there are no races to train for and people take a bit of a rest. Most clubs have some sort of beginner/introductory rides, so try and go to those if your nervous about not being able to keep up.

I'm really excited about having a shot on the track :D

It's probably too far for me to do the wed night league, but if there's a few other guys going down and we can take turns driving, then i might have a go at it.
Definitely going to do the accreditation as soon as i can though.

Went around the Manchester velodrome a few years ago and it was pretty fun! Used to be a member of the Newcastle Lyme velodrome too :)

This all happened 9 years ago mind.

Had a few guys in today talking about it. Al ogg is the top dog with VC Disaster he was in getting a 14t to replace his 15t as he said he was spinning too fast. He is going for the level 2 coach as you need a coach per session really.

I think you pay £10.50 per session for two sessions then do a two hour session making it around £70 to do the accreditation BUT if you have a race license you can just dive on and race without doing it.

I'll need to look into it further. Apparently it was closed today due to the lighting not being right for the UCI or something.....weird.
