Ouch! Were you ok? Were your tyres at the right pressure? Nasty business. I got a pinch flat 2 weekends ago from a pothole despite having my rear tyre at 120psi.

I was fine thankfully, the bike not so much lol. Tyre pressure was fine too, just happened that I didn't see the crater in the road due to the distance to the van, the dark and me being a fanny.

I had just came down a steep hill, it levels out for a speed camera and then goes down again. I was going at the same speed as the cars so anything from 25-30. Getting closer to the back of a van, too close really, but I knew he would start pulling away as it levelled out a bit. Too close meant I didn't see the pot hole. Nearly snapped my wrists! Front wheel has a dent in it too and I had to change that tyre too.

Probably get some fulcrum 7s in when I have more cash.

I want to sell on the Caad 8 and maybe get myself a Felt F75. Still not ideal for commuting due to the lack of full mudguards. Either that or a Forme longcliffe would do the job nicely.

Had a few days off since my riding felt like crack earlier this week.

Had a pig out fest on pizza, KFC, dinner out etc etc to "recover" then had a short ride yday and a slightly longer one today. Had a banana before the ride for someextra energy, didn't feel too fast, but had a headwind to ride into, still pulled some OK times on Strava, should shoot right up the table on the next few rides that way.

I can complain about the temperature, 5pm ride and an average of 27c.

report it.
you may be able to get them to replace your wheel.
iirc if a pot hole is reported and the council have not filled it then they are responsible for ANY damage it causes.

I have these and have been decent, i was set to replace them for gp4000s as i assumed i would get punctures but none so far *touch wood* For £12 i dont think you can complain!

picked up some conti ultra road race ones when they where 11 quid, had a puncture the next day! it was the roundest pebble EVER that went though it too!

after that it's been fine!

I'm raising money for Movember, if anyone wants to sponsor me. I'm growing a 'tache and Wiggo sideys... Link to donation page in sig! Cheers.

Can anyone recommend something to help my knee in the cold and drizzle we're having at the moment?

I have arthritus in it and this morning it started aching/hurting and i have quite a high pain tolerence but i had to turn back because of it.

I wear cycling trousers which stops a lot of it (if there is dampness in the air but not raining and it's cold) but it was because it started raining today while i was out it got affected. It was having near freezing water on my knee that i'm guessing was the issue.

I'm guessing something as simple as waterproofs will fix the issue or is there something more to it? This is all new to me and no one has explained anything about it to me as i'm only 31 and have it because I have a rebuilt knee. Until the last month i've never had an issue with arthritus other than i've had it the last few years.

It has to have been reported already and not repaired within a certain timescale before they will consider compensation - pretty fair really as you can't expect them to compensate from something they don't know about!

It's worth trying.

I got Royal Parks to pay up after I bent two Racing 1 rims hitting this;

I ahould have asked this ages ago..

What cleaning tools do you recomend, id like to have an "all-in-one" solution if possible, id like less brushes etc as poss

probabally getting the park tools kit to do the chain
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=5783

how does that brush work, i mean the curved end?

any other tools and fluids i could buy, what about a brush to do the rear cassete and derailer like that park tools thing? and a brush to get into the hard to reach places?

Thanks

I just use a cloth. I rinse the loose stuff off when I get home, wipe the bike down with a handtowel, then use my designated chain rag to clean the chain. I've got one of those degreaser chain cleaning brush things but I've not had to use it yet.

yeah but I think the timeframes 2 weeks or something, they where pretty quick locally when I reported a few on some "quiet lanes".
tbh I've started making a point of reporting them when I see one as that way they get done.

oh and Bradley Wiggins: Tour de Force is like £1.39 on kindle right now

and for anyone with some cash laying about I'm growing a mo for movember, will be updating my page with daily photos and such!

finally got off my lazy ass and got out for a fairly short ride. doing a bit of cardio in the gym and watching what im eating must be helping as i got a few PB's. I definitely feel that i have lost a bit of confidence on the descents after coming off a couple of weeks back but im sure that will improve in time.

i heard that its best to use something to basically clean inside so is there a brush you use? or really just use a cloth?

I've yet to get back on form after coming off twice over a month ago, just don't seem to be as fast!

I have one of those brushes, and likewise have no idea what the curved spiky bit is for.

I don't hear great things about those chain cleaners. I hear the best bet is to take the chain off and just stick it an old bottle with some turps. Leave it to sit for a bit, give it a few shakes, job done.

The park tool chain cleaner is excellent in my book and I usually don't rate these gizmos, but seeing the about of metal bits the magnet collects is quite satisfying.

I usually do the chain with that then spray the cassette/rear mech and chainrings with degreaser, leave for a few mins then pour a kettle full of boiling water over it all. They come up sparkling with pretty much no effort. Re oil and your away, 5 - 10 min job.
