bought a garmin forerunner 110 for 69.99 on the black friday on the rainforest site.

Although its primarily not a bike computer it should do the job for me and prevent my phone battery being completely dead and allow me to upload my data to strava.

I have one of these on my handlebars. Absolutely incredible.

For £200 they should be. Personally I can't see £200 in bike lights unless they offer something that cheaper lights can't. Reliability I would guess but then you still need to carry back up lights, so it makes it a bit pointless.

Buy 3 cheap chinese lights for £60 use 1 or 2 and carry the spare and a small petzl head lamp (handy for punctures)

I have found a handy review that I used a while back of the chinese CREE and contains some links in there.

I'll tell anyone who will listen that they are cack. Durano performance are better in every way.

4000S are the best tyres i've used, roll really well and are comfortable. Swapped some Schwalbe Lugano and these are night and day better.

I was distinctly unimpressed with them. I went through two sets and couldn't see anything to recommend them. My Vittoria Open Paves grip and roll much better and my Duranos have much better puncture resistance and longevity.

I'm currently trying to track down some hand made Challenge Open Stradas to try out but can't find a stockist in the UK.

Slightly OT as it's a mountain bike, but does anyone know what kind of grease/substance is supposed to be on a seat post?

I was replacing my thumb lever collar 'thing' with an Allen key one just so it's less likely to be nicked, and all this grease was getting everywhere, and having noticed it felt a bit gritty pulling the seat out I wiped the post down, and then realised later that there was probably loads of grease there for a reason (sealing against water? just letting the seat slide smoothly? idk)... So I sprayed some GT85 on and slid it back it, but tbh in hindsight that was probably an even worse idea as the solvent cleaned off any of the original grease still there and it probably doesn't fulfil the same function at all... Any ideas?

edit: seen park tool polylube 1000 or weldtite lithium grease mentioned, sounds like they should be the kind of thing I want.

Not been able to ride as much as I would like recently, so not really made any improvements.

I have made an effort to do longer rides when I do go out though. Took 6 seconds off one of my KOM PB's tonight, only me and one other bloke ridden it, there is one guy whose miles faster than most people on all the strava rides in town who hasn't been up it yet!

Is it possible to get a Strava segment demoted from 'Hazardous' status? Someone has flagged one of the cycle paths in Hyde Park and is spoiling all the fun :p

This gets me so angry! :p

Every segment in and around town, some guy has KOM on it. There have been occasions where I've got a KOM, then a few days later. "Uhhh Ohh, Person stole your KOM"

And it is not by 3 seconds or 5 seconds. No. Its 40 seconds, 60 seconds. Come on now, give the rest of us a chance.

I've stalked through his rides too and he has clearly purposely gone of of his way just to get KOMs up segments in town. Such a greedy bugger. Come on, share the love!

you mean the main cycle path? :O effer.. i loved! ride it everyday.. was thinking why it was gone from my list of segments yesterday :o

edit - nope still there.. so i guess you're talking about something else.. if i was to ride it in day light i could get a better time! but 22nd is ok.

Pre-Empting the arrival of my 1200 lumens chinese light, I want to think about weather proofing the batteries.

I understand the soldering isn't great so I'll re-solder the points and then look at surrounding them in something. Do the batteries get hot when charging? I'm thinking a silicone sealant casing might make the batteries explode when charging due to the heat not being able to escape.

Any ideas?

Also, I know someone put up a few links saying the mount wasn't great, was this with the torches and not the magicshine clone?
