always a left unclipper also, ATACs are stiff as **** anyway so doesnt really matter which foot is stronger

Strength-wise, I'd be more worried about which foot I'm pedalling off with when only one is clipped in, particularly if I then struggle to get my other foot in and have to go a few strokes solo.

I've been doing that but it doesn't quite cover my ears?

also what way round do these pads go?
open end in the direction of rotation or vice versa?

Open end to the back si that if you brake the pad is getting pushed into the holders. Grease the small grub screws for ease of removal next time.

One washer in the pad side, should have a concave edge to it. The other thinner one on the bolt side.

nice
on a similar note, does anyone use a skullcap/cycle cap in winter and what would they recommend?

bought a Gore Windstopper about 12 years ago and still going strong!
it came in 2 parts, one for the head+ears and another peice which you can put it o and put it round your neck or pull it up over your face a bit more, comes wilth a pull cord so i can tigjhten when i have it round my neck

I have an assos skull cap and I bought my dad an Endura Baabaa. I also picked up a merino neck gaitor from planet-x new merino range which has pretty much replaced the assos.

Also bought 2 long sleeve jerseys and 2 long sleeve merino t's from p-x which I have to say for the price are fantastic.

I've heard that some of the PX ones smell a bit of sheep when they get damp.

Sportpursuit having been doing half price Icebreaker merino base layers at different points throughout the summer so I've been picking them up and they are excellent.

I've always unclipped on the right side. Always felt natural for me.

On another note going to attempt to fit my SKS Mudguards this morning, looks a bit of a faf according to the video I watched but hopefully be worth it.
Must say the quality of them is excellent, much better than the crappy raceblades I had last year, which fell apart after a few rides.!
These look like they could last for years.

Yeah I saw that to be fair if you follow the thread seems like a) small batch b) sorted it self out after a few washes.

Also the 2013 range I was referring is apparently produced by a completely different company.

But I digress wearing a Tee right now and for the price/quality they're excellent. Planning to order some more today :)

I see that they've got some on at the moment. I was tempted to try one, but the rather slow delivery time combined with my uncertanty of which size to order have put me off. I took a punt on a short sleeve On-One "perform baselayer" along with some socks this week, and I'm quite pleased with the fit. The only slight complaint I have is with the sleeves; I don't have massive biceps, but they're still tight. I know most cyclists have no upper body mass to speak of, so I guess it's to be expected. I'm considering ordering some of the long sleeve ones now that I know the large fits me well enough. They are quite a lot cheaper than any other merino baselayer I've been able to find, which makes them more appealing. I love merino, and I am glad that I was introduced to it by cycling.

Looking at the roads around here, I think it's time to break out the Marathon Winter studded tyres. I was considering commuting on them next week to bed them in; is there anything to look out for when running them on normal roads? I've read that you need to be careful not to drag the bike sideways as that'll pull studs out, but is there anything else I need to consider?
