fog + icy roads + cold! was quite fun tho

where you from? that looks like trent park just up the road from me:D

Ive just had a first a "cold puncture " locked bike up at work in early morning then finish work and find back wheel totally deflated, checked for damage, nothing, then some old guy came over and told me its a cold weather puncture as the pressure so high in the tube the cold air constricts it causing it to blow lol.

ps rear wheel skid is so much fun, unless it isnt controlled:D

So i ordered from Wiggle yesterday afternoon and it arrived just now, amazing service - the Castelli top is amazing and i can see how and why people spend extra money as the cut is sooooo good!! Asos next ;)

The Leyzne pump is brilliant, propely weighty too and i love the screw on seal - got to 105 with ease and the release valve is really good, will be throwing the BBB pump away never to be used again!!

I'm a little reluctant to pay the extra £150 when it's a first foray into road cycling. Is the difference between the bikes significant enough that a complete novice is likely to notice?

Did you go a size up compared to the Castelli sizing chart?
Found my Velocissimo Equipe jacket was a nice fit in large as opposed to the chart stating i would be a medium (i am ~38" chest).
And yes the stuff is quality, the jacket i have is Gore windstopper material and it feels lush (should do for £150).
I was also going to get the Contatto jersey top myself but opted to spend a little less and get the ProBikeKit long sleeved Team one instead (again Italian made so went a size up).

I went a size up so got the large, i'm medium in DHB and my Gore Jacket - the Castelli is pretty much perfect so glad i sized up!!

I saw you link and did consider the ProBikeKit top but i basically paid £57 for the Castelli and i preferred the colour so went with it!!

So I cycled in again today, overshoes working well enough so temp was fine with only 2 noticeable things:

1) The water left on the top of the water bottle after taking a mouthful was icing up, quite pleasant actually...
2) My breath was condensing on my beard, and then freezing, only noticed when I got to work but amused me :p

Surprised not to find/notice any ice on the roads really, but kinda glad as not looking forward to that day :p

Hello cycling folks! I'm looking for an entry level road bike that can take panniers. Looking at this from wiggle:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/raleigh-airlite-200-sora-2012/

Any obvious reasons that this isn't suitable?

Good bike. Mate of mine (Cat2 who won the Richmond Park TT this year so isn't a bad cyclist) uses one as his commuter.

His other bikes are a Trek Speed Concept 9.9 and a Cervelo S3 so he doesn't buy crud.

Thanks, that's all the confirmation I need! I'll get it ordered for Christmas :)

Have you tried the pump? I never use mine as the tyre either deflates as I'm unscrewing it or the act of unscrewing also removes the valve core.

hopefully i won't get punctures! will be hard to pump it up with my tiny pump..

What jacket did you go for?

Yeah i used it this morning, worked like a dream - there is a button to release air in the line and none escaped unscrewing the head, the core stayed in a treat even tho the BBB one had slightly bent one of them!

No way! I go down Green Lanes and the turn right at Manor House down Seven Sisters :)

haha! i start off at tottenham(lordship lane near bruce grove) and go through turnpike lane up to finsbury park, through the park and out by the station and then carry on to central london(paddington station) 5 days a week :D

what bike do you ride? i may have seen you around lol.

I come down Westbury Ave, turn left at Turnpike lane, then Seven Sisters all the way to Holloway Road on my way to Westminster :p

If I'm honest I only do it once a week right now... more like 3 or 4 in Summer :D

Black Specialized Tarmac.. what do you ride? I'll keep an eye out. Lot more roadies now than when I started doing the trip (2009)
