The 500 is ant+ (most wireless garmin sensors are ant+)
The 510 has bluetooth but I think it still uses ant+ sensors. The bluetooth is to connect to a phone to give live updates on your position.
I think bluetooth can only handle 1 connection at a time (like a 510 paired with a phone) whereas ant+ can connect to multiple sensors (HR, speed, cadence, power), so that's why it is used over bluetooth.

The 200 has no wireless connections. Cant use ant+ sensors or bluetooth phone connections with it.

I don't think that's true of bluetooth. Bluetooth LE afaik works fine with multiple sensors and is basically Ant+ in a different guise. Time will tell which standard wins out I guess, though obviously Ant+ has a massive headstart on BT LE.

Just seen the tour of britain passes 10 miles from work, going to leave early tomorrow and watch them go by, not sure if to watch on a flat or half way up the climb? Chinnor hill.

On the flat they will go past so quickly you won't even be able to ID them

Thats what i was thinking also, but it would be good to get a sense of the speed, but then again the climb will be cool too

That's from the sprint I saw on Monday. I just about recognised Dowsett on his own out front at the time, but that was more guesswork than anything else, based on the jersey and the fact that it was a lone rider storming ahead of the bunch. As you can see, once the main crowd come through it's hopeless trying to recognise anyone!

Hi everyone

Sorry to jump in without reading all 1688 pages!!!! :O

Anyway I'm thinking of getting a road bike for commuting to work and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Budget anything below £1000 hopefully lower so I can get some essential gear as well, probably looking for drop down handles and disc brakes but other than that no preferences.

Thanks to anyone who replies

Cycle safe!

Hardly a shock that a shop charges more for a cassette than an online retailer. Get real, yes we can all buy stuff cheap on the net, we get it!

I want paying that much attention but i thought the prices quoted were RRPs, not online shop prices?

Even still, it's good to make friends with your lbs. It'll save you money in the long run.

Well, after nearly 4 years & 30,000+miles of regular cycling I guess it had to happen. I've had an acceident.

Cycling along at around 26mph, going into a slight right hander, when a motorbike pulled out of a side road on my left.
No time to react to him so nothing I could do except go straight into the side of him.

Got the usual comment....."sorry didn't see you" Then he had the cheek to say, sorry but I'm in a rush is it ok if I get off!!

Bike ok, my right knee & elbow a little sore, but my lower left abdomen is very sore & swollen as thats where I landed on his handlebar/brake lever.
