Now we just need someone to post up about fixing up some Shimano shifters with some easily sourced spare parts and we're sorted for it being opposite day :p

I did two 50 mile rides last week testing high end DHB and mid range Castelli summer clothing and I much prefer the DHB stuff - It's just more comfortable, especially the shorts.

Tested
DHB Aeron short sleeve jersey and Aeron bib shorts : £101
Castelli Prolog 4 short jersey and Velocissimo bib shorts : £135

I would choose comfort over badge appeal every ride.
I've ordered some Castelli Free Aero Race Kit Bib Shorts at £115 to see if those are any better.

Had a 50 mile sportive yesterday, legs are sore today, the last 10 miles were a race. Missed the jump and a 3 man break away left us. The peloton should have worked together to catch them but wouldnt, it was actually lol and great fun to smash it as hard as you could for the last few miles. Id like to actually have a go at racing, it was great fun

speaking of shifters, my RD shifter doesnt fully engage gears when shifting. The leaver will travel but not push/pull the cable. It taks a couple of attemps before shifting. Think some kind of ratchet is worn down. Anyone know what I need?

oftentimes, shimano shifters not engaging is due to the grease gumming up

run some GT85 through it and it should start clicking properly after a little while.

Once the GT85 is dry, a squirt of spray grease keeps things nice

Ah nice! How did people manage to crash 10 metres in on your race? I was standing just after the first corner... crazy.

Yeah it was poor organistation, half the field didn't do a warm up lap to get a better position on the start line. Ideally they should have neutralised us behind a bike to get us rolling then let the flag drop like that. There were a lot of crashes in general. Fun though.

Did you take many other pics?

https://www.strava.com/activities/599761763 - Well that's some of the segments around where I used to work totally nailed and any KOM hopes I had totally dashed! Welsh Road Race 2016 Championships.:rolleyes::D

Now time for some pictures, as everyone loves a few pics don't they?! :)

Finally changed my chain on friday. Definitely worn now!

After a discussion after my group/club ride on Saturday with Tim (cycling tutor and one of the driving forces behind NFTO) I dropped my stem 2 spacers and moved my saddle forwards slightly as I'm really far back. Trying to see how a more a more aggressive position helps me... May drop it another spacer if I don't feel much difference as I'm noticing myself 'getting more aero' more and more as my core has got stronger. This is a stop gap until I get a new saddle and go for a bike fit (going to tie this into getting my sizing sorted for new bike purchase).

Also drove over to my girlfriends sisters new place just outside of Ludlow. Some fantastic lanes/roads to get there which I really want to ride at some time. Her new build overlooks 'Clee Hill' (has a white dome on top & sits at 1800 feet above sea level !) which (along with the roads around Cleobury Mortimer) have some fantastic climbs and views.

They seemed to neutralise a lot of the other races, including the silly ones!

I took a fair few more snaps... nothing great though from a phone camera! I'll chuck them in an album later and put the link in here.

Your bike appears to be missing saddle workshop :p

The only bibs I've ever owned are Castelli (Rosso Corsa) fit and they're still going strong after 5,000+ miles and one moderate off in them.

I had the matching jersey but have finally accepted the sleeves are just too tight. I find their 'race/aero' fit tops to not be suitable if you have mass on the arms & shoulders or any significant taper (lats).

By contrast the DHB jerseys fit perfectly and for my frame give an athletic look. I tried another Castelli jersey with a regular fit style and determined that they just aren't designed for people with much upper body. So unless you are relatively slender up top (chest/arms/shoulders) to probably pass. Though I do have a Poggio winter long sleeve jersey which fits and performs reasonably nicely.

Agreed, comfort comes first :)

My girlfriends mum seen me in my cycling gear for the first time the other week and said I look like a little boy :(

I got home in my gear the other day and my wife said "Your thighs are massive!"

And my mum likes my latest torm top as it has blue and white stripes so is reminiscent of her native Finland's flag.

A question of mechs... While out yesterday I dropped from the big ring to the small ring and everything jammed. I stopped at the side of the road - didn't fall thank goodness - and ran the pedals backwards at which point everything was fine. The bike then worked fine for the rest of the ride.

Where do I start trying to fix this to stop it happening again? Is this an issue of mech position on the seat tube? Limit screws? Indexing?

Any ideas?

Oh ok, thanks!

(Where abouts? all the internals I can get too?)
